Wish I knew you were a Brit. Was looking for a bandmix bandmate to go down to the Blues Kitchen Sunday night jam with. Are you near Camden maybe?

Saw a horrible band that had more personality than 80% of American bands one night, and was then treated to a fabulous cover band....but they were a cover band, which disappointed me personally. I got up and sang a couple of songs and fulfilled a life-long fantasy of jamming in an english rock band! LOL

I always loved british rock!!! I try to visit the underground Camden scene the whole time whenever I'm there.

Do you get out much? What's the kewlest bands rocking there now? And how about blues-based rock bands?

inquiring minds want to know what's up with tha Brits!

It really depends on your budget and if you got the money to moving it along first as well if your material has been written. All in All about a year to complete a project on average. if you need help marketing it, I have the ticket for that.

Seethe quietly? Good heavens, I'm brilliant at that. :D
Far, far away from both Camdens Yod, great offer though man, flattered and I'm sure it would have been fun.

The scene here is very slow frankly. I haven't found one group of friendly musos outside the Classical genre. Being a Brit here isn't quite the same as in America. I do have a large American community, sadly none play out live, or have any real musical playing interest that I know of.
The coolest bands I've seen here are all from Britain lol! :D
Deep Purple/Nazareth/UB40 to name a few... Local bands are a tad hard to find and very repetitive gigs at venues.

I found a fellow from Ireland here recently, I do not know if he plays the fiddle? :D

Be well Yod, thanks man.

re-"people will get bored waiting"

Unless you're famous, people don't sit around on the edge of their seat waiting for an album release. Typically, don't we as the audience, just check in from time to time to see if there are any updates (if we remember to check in?) I personally sign up to be notified if I'm curious about the artist.

The best approach is to always be writing, get a few songs completed, then release a song week with a buildup to the release party.

The worst approach is to write a song, then release it right away, thus blowing momentum in a single shot. if you aren't able to record and release song 2 by the next weeks, you shouldn't be releasing or announcing anything. Plan everything out 6 months ahead of time, then build up to that release date 6 months away.

Thanks for the replies peeps.
Well I'm not a big artist, although my best friend vows that I will be when it goes out. I spin it each and everyday since for the main part, apart from some lyrics here and there, the bundle is about done now.

Very good advice Jamsalot. Yes I have a campaign ready, although isn't it so damned hard doing everything yourself.
I did a lot of research on this, and you have it about on the nail too.

Then there's the artwork, geesh lol :D
It has a strong start and end, but track placement is a key issue too now. As we all know from being out there on stage, audiences like a feel of the set as much as the content.

I have to admit however, I get so jaded with it at times.

One interesting point is that I've started scanning music forums, not musician forums, just people who talk about what they like and dislike. I found it so surprising at what people considered to be tasteful.
I found a really interesting thread about what listeners DO NOT like too, stupid band comments was a good example.
Never say that you are not happy with your music, was an eye opener, and a turn off to many.

Anyway, thanks for the great replies as always

Yeah, never bad mouth your own music (even if you think you deserve it!)

It is very hard doing it all yourself, that's for sure. I think I burnt myself out a little doing my latest album, so finding it hard to get back in the recording groove. Part of that is finding the time to do it, too. Hopefully the approaching cold season will help, with less 'other stuff' to do, specially on weekends.

Yep and that is a great understatement too Mike.
I've been doing that reading for a long time, it's nice to keep abreast of things isn't it.
The cold here will arrive soon. It's been anything from -2 to 22C of late. These fluctuations can only mean one day it will just drop off the scale here and become like the Antarctic again in the mountains.
Funny thing is, this does not stop anyone from doing anything. In Britain we can get an inch of snow, and the country comes to a complete standstill. We're pretty lucky here in the Cluj valley though. Last year houses were literally buried in the white stuff in some places, people died. That's really quiet.

Still I miss my meanderings in NJ in the snow. I walked for miles on those white days, so quiet, peaceful, no one around. Love that.

There are at least two songs I want to add. Both are set in NJ on my travels.

Wishing you a great one Mike, thanks for your input too.
Best.

Chippy
