I started playing guitar in 1979, I kicked around from one band to the other but put it on the back burner after about 6-7 yrs. A few yrs later people started pursuing me to come out of "retirement" and play out again, I did. But after about 1 yr and all the static and attitudes of being in a band, I bowed out.
A few yrs later I ran sound for a friends band (which was falling apart) and eventually I stepped in and took over as the Bass player in the late 80s. That lasted for about 2 yrs but once again too much attitude and egos, I left that band and worked on bettering my skills. I did that for about 3 yrs and then one day just put the guitar/bass down and didnt pick it up for nearly 15 yrs.

My friend approached me in 2013 to once again come out of retirement and be his bass player. I have been bitten by the music bug and had the desire to play music again, so I agreed. We are all older now and one would think that the pettiness and attitudes would be put in check and controlled...WRONG. I invested some money and time and we started to gel then the singer had a "Mid-Life" choice to make and he decided to call it quits. I still play as much as I can but I wish I hadnt let all those yrs (15) go by without playing

Zar

Just a suggestion - use paragraphs. Your stuff is hard to read.

If the declaration of independence had been written sans paragraphs we'd all be talking with a British accent!

Perhaps the answer is simple. As a nation we have rejected both his precepts and his son. As the ungodly nations have gone so are we headed in the same direction. :)

sorry, slacker..i'm calling hogwash on that one. no disrespect intended for your very strong christian beliefs, but to lay off america rejecting jesus as the reason for our problems....well, i just don't see it.

same with "rejecting god" as the cause of all upheavel...as if other nations that have fiercely religious populations don't have their own problems? (israel, india, pakistan, and mideastern muslim countries for example). i've no doubt that pettyness, selfishness, greed, and other egregous behaviors run just as rampant there as they do here.

one does not have to accept jesus or even believe in god to live justly, be a good member of society, and treat others with the humanity and respect they deserve.

I have to laugh. The ones who are screaming "EGO" as some sort of terrible thing are the very ones the least studied, the least learned, having never studied a single artist or record or worked to emulate anyone as their own and who have absolutely no musical identity. And why not? We have Guitar Hero and karaoke and X-Factor and The Voice! They're doing the work you should have done on your own years ago. And all this reinforces the idea anyone's success in art and music is just a crap shoot based upon your fashion good looks, your family's money and how much of a salesman you are on the TV Miss America shows where contestants are forced to out-bellow the next fashion plate salesman or woman for the chance to have your career run and ruined by Simon Cowell. Just ask Taylor Hicks how that works.

Im sorry I dont understand your resposne. Please elaborate

"If there is a god - why so much trouble?"

Hmmm...

Last time I looked it was human beings causing the trouble - not God. We don't have to be assholes - but it seems to be an irresistible compulsion.
