well said jw. the golden rule...THAT's the one we should all be observing 'religiously'.

for better or worse i spent my first 22 yrs living in nyc and so got exposed to lots of different things and different folks. i figured out pretty early on that people are people. good and bad...they come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and fly the flags of all different religions (or none at all).

i've known, played music, and worked with, and for muslims that were hard working, upstanding family people who were the salt of the earth. i've also known some i wouldn't piss on if they were on fire. proving what? that people are people.

Jesus . . . The Son of God . . . His life as a man . . . His teachings . . . His Sacrificial death for the sins of all mankind . . . His resurrection . . . His defeat of Death and Satan . . . and His impending return.


All else is folly.

now, george....i don't mean to be dismissive and glib when it comes to what you believe and obviously hold dear, but keep in mind that when you say that "all else but jesus is folly" YOU are in fact taking a dump on what all jews, muslims, sikhs, buddhists, etc believe and hold equally dear when you dismiss THEIR views as "folly".

Mark,you are one clever politician. You are as smart as any one. You are human, you still make mistakes. What George was quoting are words from the Christian Bible. He didn't write them, He feels as many do that these were words from GOD. Whose GOD??? The way you put it... It is not important. However that was not the main body of the point. You bring in Jews, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Muslims.

I don't feel like getting into a religious discussion about Jesus. Before you bring up Tim Mcvey and "Jonestown"... I really don't give a damn about being POLITICALLY INCORRECT. muslims, believers in islam, are killing innocent American citizens. I don't know what the problem is... Please don't sanction it.

if you check this thread's title you'll see it's not about jesus or christianity per se. it's about comparing religions. i think you're smart enough to see the relevance and the thread of logic in my bringing up other religions to make the point i was trying to.

yes, believers in islam have killed innocents. do you honestly believe i "sanction that"??? i sanction it no more than when a christian, jew, sikh, or buddhist goes off his rocker and does the same. killing innocents.....baaaad.

There are barely twenty of them, they are not Christians and not a single Christian denomination has anything but contempt for them so comparing them to us is pointless. They call themselves Baptists - they could just as easily call themselves Buddhists - it's a free country, or was...

As to Islam - it is actually more open to criticism because it is a political system as well as a sort of religious cult. I get along ok with Muslims but there are two very big reasons why they are a threat to us - and read this without the PC blinders on, simple objective fact:

1) We are killing a great many Muslims every day in at least ten countries.
You may agree with this policy or you may not. Either way, rational people might assume that other Muslims just might be pissed.

2) Muslims have committed several thousand acts of terror in various countries over the last ten years. And I'm not supposed to worry about them? We not supposed to profile them? Well, ok...
