It was pretty bad about 2 years ago. I have a colleague at work who lives there and he witnessed a full blown assasination in the street. The Sinolea Vs the Zetas. What's really messed up is that we trained their enforcers (when they worked for the Mexican Army)

The leave shrines at various sidewalk shops in Juarez and that's usually a fore telling that the block will be owned, by brute force soon. The whole game is intimidation at all costs. They will kill you if you look at them wrong.

That's all nutty. Seems like the cartels are somewhat heroes to some over there. They supply the electricity, from what I've heard...and I'm sure that's not all. Law enforcement is part of those organizations too. I don't know, but from what I saw, life is disposable in Juarez. The film crew couldn't even keep up with the murders going across town. There was like 2-4 people per shooting too...and all in their cars just full of holes, man. It was brutal. Opened my eyes for sure.
