Because Facebook won't let you do a direct video link. You have to use youtube or vimeo or another file-hosting site.

Hm, by embedding your videos on FB it brings up a message saying that it's a link to all other websites! What a load of BS!! Anyway thanks for that, will have a look at You Tube

Semantics! You can link to the page, but you cannot link directly to the embedded video.

Hi, just trying to upload a video clip which is currently posted on my Facebook page but when I click 'submit' I get the message to enter video URL. Does anyone know why it won't recognise the URL address I'm entering? Any help appreciated, thanks!

You Tube works best... Then you can pass the link whereever you need to... WORD of CAUTION...do NOT lose your You Tube Password/userID..If ya do...there is virtually no way to recover your account.
