Hey everyone!
I don't know how many of you will watch the game, but who among you will check out the musical acts?

Alicia Keys - She's great, but will anyone be paying attention? She's performing pre-game. I think she'll be the highlight of the musical acts, but she's in a less advantageous time slot. Too much pre-game distraction for the viewers, I think; especially..........

Paula Abdul - Will she be sober? Will she crash and burn? Or will she just do a little dancing, and lip sync?

Jordin Sparks - How will she handle the national anthem? (Very well, I think)

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - It's cool that they got this gig. I'm sure they'll rock, but will the sound engineers and producers let us down again with a poor mix for the television feed? It's always been a problem, IMHO.

Enjoy the game everybody! GO PATS!

I think the performances are almost always good. Are they worthy of the hype? Not always, but sometimes they are. Especially in later years, I've always been "entertained" by them. Lord knows they spend enough money on the acts and production to make it so.

You made a good assessment I think.

I voted no, because, you know what, it always stinks, lol.

They will probably all sound like crap, except maybe for Tom Petty.

Oh, and by the way, go Giants! (Patriots are monsters, too many wins, even though I sense they are going to win this too, lol).

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

Yo, GA! 8) I know the Patriots are a "dynasty," (my word) and I don't like "dynasties" in sports either. Heck, in the 80's I hated the 49ers. I just want the '72 Dolphins to shut their yappers about being undefeated! If not for that, I'd like to see Strahan come away with a ring.

If the Cowboys make it next year, and Tony Romo & Jessica Simpson are still together, I wonder if she could swing a spot in the halftime show. hehehehe :P

Damn. A whole other side to G/A!!!

You're gonna make us think that your diplomacy skills were all an act! LOL

Wow. My drummer has the completely opposite view. He wants the Pats to lose, just so they WON'T one-up the Dolphins by going undefeated AND winning the Superbowl too. A truly perfect season.

they simply had marching bands at half-time. What does Tom Petty or Alicia Keyes have to do with football? Nothing. The two week build-up and hype for this game is ridiculous. People treat Super Bowl day like it's a national holiday. It's just a football game, nothing more or less. And they shouldn't have the game on a neutral field, it should be at the team with the best record. In most other major sports the team with the best record gets home field advantage (except baseball which is determined by which league wins the all-star game). Anyway all this constant analysis is a big waste of time. I turn the game on right at kick-off, turn it off at half-time, turn it back on for the second half, and turn it off when the clock says zero. Then I grab my bass and play a little. I'm a huge sports fan but I've got other things to do other than listen to pre-game hype or pre-game b.s. (like Alicia Keyes). Later...

Giants won! Ha, I was right, lol. Neh, it does not really matter to me as much as others, so no offense anyone. I am not a major football fan, I did not see the halftime show, I was not home. But hey, I saw the end of the game, and Eli did a Hell of a job.

Now they are playing Audioslave's Cochise to videos clips of the game, whoo!

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

A little dissapointing, and I like Tom Petty.

He had to have someone else singing his high parts on at least one song, and went to harmony instead. Other times someone doubled his lead on the high notes. That high end goes with age sometimes, huh?

But hell, songs like "American Girl" are 30 years old now, so I guess it's pretty damn good when you consider that.

Of course, now, when I hear American Girl, I can't help but think of words other than the song lyrics...

"You still wake up sometimes, don't you? You wake up in the dark and hear the screaming of the lambs."

Hell of a game though.

No one expected a score that low.

Will Tom Brady now get the Tony Romo treatment for spending his off-time with Gisele Bundchen while waiting for Superbowl week?

LMAO!

btw...

Cheaters never win!

Couldn't resist! ;-)

Lmao. Yeah, I do not know, man. Maybe they will give him the Tony Romo treatment, that would be funny.

I cannot believe that score was that low either, thought it would like be 30 - 15, Patriots.

Goes to show you sometimes you cannot predict these games. Who knew the Red Sox would become a monster team last year and kill off the Rockies.

By the way, you are right, cheaters never win, lol.

Peace, GuitarAnatomy.

Good for the Giants! No sarcasm, really. 8) The Pats looked like doo doo, and the Giants D had a good motor all night. I really missed the good part, the 4th quarter. By that time I had been bored to tears, and stopped paying attention. I didn't care who won, as long as we got some action! :) Good to see Eli come around, too.

Anyway....the music.
I missed Alicia Keys. Did Paula Abdul perform, or did she flake again? Pfft...who cares? Jordin Sparks looked nervous, but did OK considering that it seemed like she couldn't hear the backing track. Kinda sounded like they were out of sync. Tom Petty was enjoyable, but pretty lackluster, even for his laid back brand of classic rock. Oh, well....I guess they can't afford to have the musical acts outshine the game.

Yeah, I heard all night that the Patriots were doing badly. I did not see the half time show at all (As I said), and I really could care less, lol.

However, I did come in in time to see one Victoria Secret commercial... :D I was one happy 19 year old, lmao. I still say people who are that perfect looking come from another planet, either that or they are made in Area 51. I have got to get me one of those beautiful women as a date, lol (I think that is every single guys dream though...).

But on exact topic though, yeah, I am happy the Giants took it. Eli made one Hell of a play at that last moment, escaping a massive tackle and then throwing it 20 yards (Or something like that). I never expected them to make it, I must say that. I thought the Giants were out of it before the playoffs. But if anyone was paying attention big brother Peyton was cheering his little bro' on from a box seat, that was cool.

I wonder what would happen if Metallica headlined the superbowl... I think half the fans would be there for them... Lmao. "Oh, Metallica's done performing, okay, f*ck the game, let's go have a beer and listen to Kill 'Em All."

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

I thought Tom Petty sounded good. That has to be a weird deal to get up and play like that. I liked that double neck guitar that the lead player played in the last song. What was that? The backline of Vox amps looked cool. I wonder how it sounds playing on a stage like that.

As far as the game, for 25 yrs I have seen the game with the same friends and I think this was one of the best I could remember.

As far as the poll question. The Superbowl is really about entertainment, so I think its great they include some good artist like Tom Petty instead of some boy band or American Idol.

GA, who knows 10 yrs from now maybe Metallica will be there. I never thought Kiss or Aerosmith wouldve been included. Heck lets bring Zep to the party.
