Just came back from Wichita, Kansas . . .
I could tell when I was back in Texas because we were once again surrounded by selfish, rude, people whose dress, mannerisms and driving habits scream look at me I'm special.

Perhaps my interactions with the peoples of Kansas were unique ?
Somehow I doubt it.
EVERYONE we spoke with was kind helpful smiling and extended a handshake in friendship.

Those couldn't have been true Texans.. Prolly Transplants... In fact, given the last decade, I'm certain of it .

My wife and I just moved after 10 years in the bay area California to Northern NJ to be closer to family and to pursue interests. She's from NJ, whereas I grew up in relatively leisurely, hard working central Ohio.

I've noticed that some (not all) Jerseyians are both a.) extremely caring, down to earth individuals with a deep sense of family and b.) completely self absorbed, rude assholes that will run down a nun. I've actually been told to "f**k off" under the breath of obviously disgruntled diner waitresses for requesting inconvenient things like mustard or my check. On the other hand, my ex-cop neighbor invited me and the wife (heavy metal tattooed freaks) over for Christmas cookies over the holidays.

I'm a tough but slow to anger kinda guy, but I'm consistently shocked at how inconsiderate and oblivious some people are around here. Especially in customer service roles where your business is to just be nice enough to help people buy something.

The musicians I've met have all been cool though!

Oh man, you moved from somewhere else to NJ and the tri-state area?
Wow, bad move.. These people are self-absorbed and would run you down to get to the parking spot they want.

If you meet some nice people that behave themselves near you, you might want to attempt to befriend them.

For every 1 decent person in NJ, they are at least 25 assholes waiting to sink their fangs into your rear end just for fun.

It gets slightly better as you go to south jersey, but something about the sand makes them act oddly down there as well.

Maybe it's just me, idk.. I'm sick of the predatory nature here.

And if we ever get that channel on cable, you know where someone gets to go fight the lions, I think that might be me. (just please give me some real armor and a good sword, preferably 2.)

What I can't figure out is that people that live in central NJ absolutely INSIST that they live in S. Jersey.



I'm looking at a map.. that ain't south, bro. (not you, them) What surprises me is how hostile they will get about it. I always just let that one go.. no idea what kind of storm is brewin in the minds of these ppl.

The high car insurance rates do make sense tho.

It's cause there is a stigma to "living in south jersey".

Real or not, plenty of people are trying to stand tall in the saddle when what you say doesn't matter too much in comparison to what you do...

That begs the question of which came first, "the glass pipe or the crack rock".

If you live in central NJ which is south of nowhere and no one, and you insist you live in SJ, that's bizarre. It's like stating unequivocally that you aspire to be thought of as white trash.
