Well this week off from work is proving interesting as I go through all my old portastudio 4 track cassettes to see what I was doing in the early '90s. I just added an original I found to my profile. I still like the melody, but that arrangement, and recording...WTF was I thinking?

My 4-track stuff is from the 80's, not sure I would have the b*alls to post any of it here!

I have 4 track stuff from the early nineties through about 2002. I still have the old beast. I love that tascam porta 01 like it was a beloved instrument. More than 1/2 of my 800+ recordings were done on my 4 track. I'll follow your lead and post one or two.

See, this is when I know I am young, lmao. Those things were created before I existed I think.

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

Well I did it. There is a track called "I'm gonna get you" on my profile now. It is freaky! It is the only analog 4 track tune on my profile. I also put a "straight" tune up. A cover no less! And an irreverent A Capella cover of The Door's "Maggie McGill" The covers were recorded in Q99 radio station when I worked there.

... I am f**king traumatized by "I'm Gonna Get You." Ban that from existence! That song is f**k freaky sounding! It sounds like something out of a torture station.

As for "Maggie McGill," it has a nice jive about it.

So, now I am going to cleanse my ears with some kind of Metallica. :?

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

neanderpaul wrote:I said I would post some freaky stuff Irminsul. I did. It's 4 track and bizarre. It's called "I'm gonna get you". I like writing authentic pop and rock with lofty goals, I love a sad song, but I also like to write songs that make people feel weird.

I thought there was some good ideas in there. The guitar in places reminds me a little of the ventures. Not the style, but the tone.

The end cracked me up. Yes, I listened to the whole thing. LOL

I thought it was a cool idea bro. You could have taken it to some other places though, and it would have been really cool.

btw... whatever happened to you entering the America's Got Talent thing?

I really think that if you shortened the one part of the intro lick on Walking Alone, to 4 bars each instead of 8 (cause it just repeats, right?), you would have a shot at getting in there. You'd have to video it all over again though. But the attention spans of producers are very short. I think if you cut the intro so you get into the various parts quicker, and they understand what you are doing faster, you may have a shot at getting into some early rounds. If you get one that is televised, it's all worth it, from a publicity perspective. :-)

Hey thanks for "playin'" Craig. That song has been a blast to share over the years. Ahhh I love being weird sometimes.
On the Americas got talent thing. I'm just dragging my feet. I need to pick a song and the problem is they only accept covers. Your suggestions on walking alone are dead on. I can shorten it as it does repeat. The lead I do as soon as I make the first loop is pretty pointless and weak frankly. I could tighten it up by singing the first verse as soon as I hit the first loop. And then do the slide the guitar to the back/pick up the bass right then. I could also sing the first backing vocal while making the first loop too. I could sing the second while overdubbing the bass too. HMMM. Thanks to your suggestions I seem to be figuring it out as I type. But I still have to pick a good cover to do. I do the lion sleeps tonight and I can do that in a similar format. That song seems to have universal and all ages appeal. I can also set up at least a snare to give it more musical credibility too. I just need to focus and nail down one song to submit an audition. Another tough thing is the 2:00 time restriction. Most of my loops, covers or originals are 3:00 - 5:00. That's doing it as tight as I can. I really do appreciate you asking. And your point about the TV publicity being worth it are right too. All of my comments on my youtube walking alone vid are very flattering. If any one of my youtube vids blew up I could probably get good paying gigs and sell some CD's and DVD's. I'd be happy just making a (relatively) little bit of money from playing.
