Ok, I got gas.. (fwaaaaaaaaaap) lol

But I also just scored some serious gear..

I went to check out those Yamaha S215V's and boy was I pleasantly surprised?

This kid was working at Radio Shack and either he didn't know or didn't care.

So I got 2 S215V's for 300$. (yeaaah maaan)

I'd do that every day if I saw them that cheap.
I was experimenting with them and my (2) SV115IV's and all i have to say is WOW. The S215V's are heavy and big, but they sound so good I feel like I got something special for my $. My buddy that was helping me move them around already offered me 700$ for them, I laughed at him.

He gave me a short story that he got them from some guy running dj dances at a school. He said he was running the whole band through them and it was enough for a 5-600 person shindig.

Now I have to go grab my power amp in Union tomorrow and my PA setup is all done..now if only my vehicle woes were as easily solved.

I hope I can run all 4 of those together ultimately. (gulp) lol
(bzzzzzzzzt) You smell smoke?

Capt I thought you were looking at 1x15 cabs, you are probably going to need a bigger power amp for the 2x15s.

Thats what my band uses and they kick ass with the 1x18 subs under them. We use a Yamaha 7000 series amp to push ours.

When I put the system together we hooked them up outside and really pushed them and with a DB meter at 30 ft got readings in the 115db range, for gigs we ussually set it around 100db.

Those are some awesome speakers, enjoy them!

Oh yes. And no reason to have them if you are not going to fully use them.

This amp should do nicely:

I hooked them up to the power desk and I'm not getting full volume with them but the signal is awfully clean. I use a few effects on the vocals, so all that is on there as well and it gives me some boost.

I just am working with the S215V's and not the SV115IV's.

I figure when I can add the 250w@4 ohm stereo/500w@4 ohm mono power amp, I'll check to see if I can sneak the SV115IV's in as monitors. (gulp)(oh yeaaaa)

Otherwise I need a real power amp.
But the nice thing is that the sound is warm and clean. (i am repeating myself.)

I always liked Yamaha stuff. The worst part is those big bastards are 2 men to move. I moved the pair today and I can tell you they are heavier than I thought they would be and I can see that I wouldn't want that to be a regular thing as my back is going to quit. lol

PS: OOh Johnny, I like that Crown power amp..
Going to be a while to generate the moo-la though..

Capt as far as the size and weight take some advice, get you a dolly, thats what I use, I can set up the whole pa by myself, other than setting the tops on the subs, but I have got a way I can do that without killing my self.

Find a dolly with pneumatic tires, hard tires dont do so good, with heavy equipment.

Your back will thank you, this is coming from an old man! LOL!

You know I was thinking about that but they weigh a ton. (Imagine trying to sneak way with them, I don't think I could even run trying to carry one. lol)

But as good as they sound, I don't even care if they are hot.
If the serial numbers run and they were stolen, I'd have to give them back to whoever owned them with a tear and sniffle. lol

But the kid said that they were being run by a DJ that does a local school dance thing and I don't think he knew what they were. He got them from the DJ and that makes them 2nd hand from him and 3rd hand to me.

And JW I tweaked my back just bringing them home.. lol
But I took the Asprin, groaned into bed and smiled all night long into the next morning. I.e. It's only pain and I am used to some of that at all times, ssdd.
