Very few of us ever will be. Even now I play along because that's an means to an end.
Would you rather play nothing at all, Cliff? Cause that's where you are headed...
Look, sir, I don't want to play with just anybody. However, I am willing to play some songs for these individuals and form NETWORKING cirlces with these individuals you want me to play with so badly. However, I will NOT actually want to play with these guys. This search has always been about playing music with that special individual who has a passion for more of the artists and songs I enjoy, and who enjoys a wide variety of good music, which can include some additional music of his own, as well as most of the artists I enjoy. I am tired of running into the typical guys who only enjoy alternative rock or indie rock and who hate pop and soft rock.
And again, here are some of the main problems in finding these guys:
1. Not having enough places to post requests and get the word out.
2. Not having the ability to talk with my audience at the given place where I'm posting my ad (whether it's online or at a physical place) to find out whether the audience I'm seeking is popular or not. For example, as the name suggests, Guitar Center is more popular with guitar players, not so much keyboard players. And most people that frequent Guitar Center are into heavy metal, and full blown rock and on top of that, most want to form full blown rock bands.
3. Not having access to a young guys' pop and soft rock musician's club.
Also keep in mind that networking with individuals who don't play music, but who know some guys around my age who do play the keyboard, and enjoy good quality pop and soft rock music would benefit me as well.
Lately, everytime I try to network with someone, that person ends up being a dead end due to his friends NOT being in the right age group, or not being into the right kind of music, or not having enough friends to form reliable networking circles.
And also as stated before, I've had to turn down individuals due to them living in a part of Baton Rouge or Louisiana that made it kind of a hassle to drive to my place, rather than reaching someone who lived close by.
Also a lot of people are not well-edcuated in the terms legally blind or visually impaired and so pass my ad on by. This as well as my music tastes explains why some people contacted me initially, and showed an interest in playing with me, stated that they were late for work, or school, and promised to get back to me, but never called me back. Sometimes I would call this given individual back only for the phone to ring, and then switch over to voice mail, or I would learn it was all a sick joke, or the guy would initially pick up the phone, and then hang up on me after I introduced myself, or I would learn they used a friend's phone, thus I didn't contact the same guy who contacted me before. Why didn't these particular individuals have the guts to actually tell me why they changed their mind? These guys couldv'e very well been the individuals I was looking for, or at least couldv'e become general friends with them, and formed networking cirlces with them?
So, in short help me correct these problem, while still keeping my search within Baton Rouge.
