lol. well, nothing too terribly exciting in the amp dept.

gtr amps:
'65 Reissue Fender Deluxe Reverb
Fender Blues Deville (2x12 model)
Roland Cube 60 (my everything amp....gtr/dobro/el mando/smaller bass prcts and gigs....great little amp for upright!/vibes)

bass amps:
ASHDOWN Blue 180
old KUSTOM KBA 100

Cube 60 seems to be taking over as the amp of choice for small venues or small settings.

Charvel USA made some damn fine instruments.

I play Jackson, peavy, chinastrat, yard sale acoustic - but I'm getting a Raines Chi, and a mid 80s Charvel USA.
It's all about the neck feel and if it is built solid enough, for me.

I've always thought the Charvel necks were the best, but never got around to owning one - but will soon. The Raines neck is cloned from a Charvel.

That guitar needs only one thing... Strings. Interesting Pup Config. Ash is heavy, but very temperature and humidity hearty. I could only assume it is very stable under the most duress. Pitchy chancy with single neck treble p/u. Should do some controlled feedback octaves above your 24 frets. an example would be Eagles' Take it Easy... with range to play most anything Eagles. If I'm wrong I'm long.

(2) DiMarzio super 2's and a HS - ???? Dimarzio in the neck - I forget what model it is ....
It does well in hard rock situations. I mainly play clean though. With the Pups in single coil mode.
I like the 24 frets .... I can get way up there and those frets still have life in them ..
Rest of the frets are getting close to being shot though .....

I play a Fender Precision Special Bass through a Peavey TNT because I get a signature sound that isn't duplicated.

I took a shot in the dark last year as I was getting sick of the duncan tones (which sound oddly the same as Epiphone stock pups).. so I went onto Dimarzio's site and looked at the pickup balances, and found one called "steves special" that had an unusual eq balance to it, designed for shimmering cleans and smoother distortion.

I ordered it and it sounded GREAT in one of my beater guitars (rondo / douglass), which was a thin solid ash body. so I eventually retired it and put it into my Agile 2000.. which I regret to say that the mahogany dulled the tone substantially.

I'm reworking the douglas (wr-340) now.. the guitar is a great player, but the hardware was junk.. all the lock nut screws stripped out, the LFR was junk and the tuners are a total fail.. but man.. the neck is straight and that pup sounded godly in it

I think I sound like me no matter what pick ups are in my guitars, Ive used duncans, dimarzios, muy grande, and emg, no big difference to me.

My lps have the stock pups in them and everyone I talk to says they replace them immediately.

Yesterday I got my old strat out, took it apart and cleaned it real good to get rid of grit, played it most of the afternoon, pretty fun, but I still sound just like me.

Yeah, JW I agree. You pretty much am what you am no matter what gear you're playing.

Like many gals who hold down the low end I play Fender Jazz basses. Their neck shape feels good, I like the different tones I can get, and well...J Basses are just plain ol' sexy!

Never played a Jazz, I had a Rick for a while and wish I had never sold it, but when I got my old P bass it just suits me.

The other day I was doing some recording and got it out, my wife saw it and thought it was a new guitar, LOL.

Its a 78 model I think and Ive had it since the mid 80s, its got emg actice pickups, which makes the tone controls actually work, and a Baddass tailpiece.

Nothing wrong with a good P Bass but some of the fatter necked ones just feel kinda "clunky" in my hands.

Having the right neck makes a big difference.
I like the tone of jazzes.
But, the necks are too thin for me.
The bassist for Rage Against The Machine swaps the jazz necks with precision necks.
The next bass or guitar I get will probably be something custom made.
I've got some design ideas I wanna try.

I can hear sand in every Dimarzio I've been exposed to. (So far)
