I say burn these freakin' heretics on a cross! ..if energy never dies and your body has energy in it until life is extinguished then where does that energy go? and what is it? scientific proven when the body dies it loses a very minute bit of weight (which is the soul leaving) at exactly the same time you expire.. Einstein and all that..

So you 'understand' God Paper? From reading a 2,000 year old book? A book which was written by men and cobbled together like a quilt? Yeah you're a real expert.

Its obvious you don't understand God... You 'think' you understand... But all you do is re-write what conveniences you...

You aren't afraid to touch wet paint, but it paralyzes you to think of reading that lil ol book we call the bible. If you actually read that book, you'd get that God is NOT about fear.

You don't understand God... Therefore how can you intelligently comment?

Uh, I think I've read that book quite a few times.
Raised Pentecostal.
Also, if you've seen the research, atheists are generally more well-informed about the bible's contents than it's proponents!
If you wanna be an atheist, just READ the thing.

Good for you Mike. But I am thoroughly convinced that you cherry picked whatever suits you. I suppose If I handed God in a bottle to you , no doubt you'd have a negative comment about that bottle and even condemn it , saying it had no beer in it ...

Some know better for other reasons and those people won't be trying to get you to do much of anything, they'll just watch you reap what you sow because "faith" is that way. "You have to let people make their own choices, right or wrong".
And you don't need any proof other than that which you already have...you're just not smart enough to connect the dots and see the bigger picture.

Everyone is an atheist until the bullets start flying, then it's a trench full of believers and last minute religion shoppers like black Friday at Walmart.

"Shop Smart, shop S-Mart" -Bruce Campbell

The Bruce Cambell quote is awesome. I responded as i did because it's really annoying when people point their fingers and juxtapose in principle, any belief system that others have, and the evidence that surrounds them is completely lost on them...

You are right about one thing Scotty... There is something to be said for keeping quiet and watching them reap what they sew... Its no longer about the Christians...Its now, about the entertainment...

All one has to do is see the subject line to know it's you trolling for an argument. Go make some music (or push some electric buttons, whatever you do) instead of spamming the board with your hate.

Now Red Tuesday - don't be mean. Anyone who quotes Bruce Campell can't be all bad! :D

"They call me Ash - sporting goods!"

btw - I know what you mean about practice. After umpteen years of this I keep feeling like I'm on the verge of getting good...soon eh?

Jimmy I never , ever... claimed to be an expert, But I will say, that at least i gave that 2000 year old book a solid glance, which apparently you have not. I say this, because if you had actually 'read' any significant part of it, you would have gathered that the message is not about fear...its about hope.

You have convinced yourself that there is no God. Fine... But why dont you practice your own tenents about science, and do the research for the evidence that supports your bitter and uninformed claims (In other words...please read that book before you comment)

If YOU had actually read it you'd see that the "message" is inconsistent gibberrish.
You can cherry-pick a rationalization for almost any type of behavior from it.
Wanna sell your daughter into slavery?
It even tells you HOW.
I know it is comforting to just recall the parts that you agree with.
After all, that's what Gods are for.
"Isn't it convenient that HE agrees with ME completely. MY God is better than YOUR God."
And before you go, "Oh, that's the Old Testament" cop-out, Jesus TOLD his followers to obey the Old Testament.
As much as I like Jesus, his character was written inconsistently as well.
There is at least THREE different versions of him in the Bible.
He wasn't always preaching love from the sermon on the mount.

No Mike, he told them to obey the ten commandments.
He paid for the other laws so you don't have to do all of those Jew gymnastics any more.

You are wrong.
But, that is another bone I've got to pick with this storybook.
God, an omnipotent omniscient being who LOVES everybody, sends an incarnation of HIMSELF to PAY for sins TO HIMSELF that he CREATED in the first place.
He creates faulty human beings and then gets angry with them when they do as he designed them to be.

I am inclined to believe that the bible isn't exactly 100% correctly translated since so many would be power mongers keep coming up with new and different ways to rewrite it.

But the ideas contained within are bigger than you are and the general idea(s) are represented well enough to see the big picture.

"The song remains the same".

The problem is not with god but the animals on Earth that think it's okay to write religious materials in a way that generally suits them the best.

Don't blame god because people suck, that's been going on since the very beginning and most of us know the difference between right and wrong.

It's how you "spin it" that gets humans in trouble.

If you have a little common sense it's not all that difficult to tell the difference between what's been written and what he wants for us all.

God isn't the problem, it's the humans that interpret.
Everyone has an agenda and you have to have some big balls to rewrite the bible, but that never stopped anyone.

Nope if we can't see the big finger come down and crush someone, we refuse to draw conclusions because they would invariably change our behaviors.

Guilty!
My fault!
I just thought it was a funny Carlin quote.

I know, inevitably, someone will have an argument over ANYTHING that I post.
The whole humanism thing seemed so benign.
Sheesh!
But, occasionally, someone surprises me and agrees with me on something.
I'm just a little bit bored, that is all.
