I always liked carlin, I'm cynical as well- and among all of my friends and family, I'm the unlucky one who also was never able to let go of the angst.. right/wrong still seem black and white, I hate corruption, hypocrisy, and injustice.
Among all t hose my age, very few seem to feel the same way. Sure, everyone hates it, but nearly all have resigned to accepting it.. and I wonder- Is that apathy the very reason the crooks have been allowed to squander power and wealth, take over the government? Is it that we all should hang on to our virtues a little longer and harder in life and fight against corruption in the way our elders once did?
In the end, I think the apathy in this country is it's biggest problem. Things won't change because nobody cares deeply enough to do what is necessary to change it. Apathy is why we got 4 more years of Obama, and not 4 years of Rocky Anderson or Jill Stein. Apathy is why we accept the government running like an olympian with two broken legs, and apathy is why we allow the SEC to take a nap while the wall street casino hedges bets using our assets, retirements, and taxes.
I think Carlin saw all of that, I think he knew deep down that even with his microphone, he was unable to even make a dent in the ills of society, but I applaud him for never giving up. I also noticed that over the years, his stand-up routine got increasingly less funny, and more angry. I get that too.. for all his efforts, things only got worse. It's hard to work for something only to watch it disintegrate slowly before your eyes.
Carlin was a populist, a patriot, and stood for a level of human consciousness that people today can't even imagine. RIP

Yep, I said "re-write", in which I also said that the current amendments need to be spelled out more clearly. Your arguments that I'm calling for the destruction of the entire document are dishonest and self serving.
