As many of you know, I'm just the janitor here... only started pushing music with reasonable seriousness in the last couple of years... SO I make a big deal out of miner thangs...buts its all big to me
MY CD project is complete, George has officially retired from all forms of music, in favor of running a fish farm, which he built in his back yard. We high-fived, thanked each other with big smiles... laughed jolly good, hugged, shook hands and have now gone our separate ways.
Its now time to toss my CD in a box in the closet and move forward.
Today marks the first official rehearsal day for a new blues band here at home, which is forming up for a festival in July. These guys are heavy hitters and I got 'called in..'
I cant even begin to express how deeply honored I feel about that...
Mike McFee is the bass player and is leading the project.(you can see him playing the upright electric bass in my video 'Little Lie"). He has taken me under his musical wing. Today we met up and plugged in... He showed me some awesome stuff, and has started teaching me a few tricks of the trade. There will be some standard cover tunes : i.e Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, ALbert King, BB King to name a few.
Mike was /is definitely interested in my original material. I got four original songs lined up so far. "Little Lie (You Don't Get me Twice)", "Find a Way", "Quiet Spy", "You've Been Told" There are a few more to come.
He's got a drummer lined up, a keyboard player, and a lead guitarist.
The Timberon Blues Festival occurs annually on the 4th of July in Timberon, New Mexico. Its a mountain, forest area...absolutely beautiful and stunning drive.
Mike also happens to be the coordinator for that event...He has secured all the lodging, (two nights) and food, etc. PLUS we get paid!
Technically, it will be my first professional gig ever...
.
Finally, as we rehearse and coodinate, we'll be testing the material out at various venues/open jams etc...
I have indeed stumbled on a gold mine of musical endeavor... It really dont get much better than this, for where I am in the grand picture
