The world and what they think doesn't really concern me much, but knowing that you didn't do your best can be a real thorn in your side...and might come back to haunt you at a later show.. (ouch)

this might sound self centered but at every gig my ....

first concern= pleasing ME
second concern= pleasing my bandmates

now, as i see it....that SHOULD translate into pleasing at least SOME of the audience. if not, so be it. i/we did our best.

the other thing i learned long ago is that even in the most detached and uninvolved audience there's ALWAYS someone listening....and that's also who i play for.

My goal at every gig is to have a meaningful connection with the other players asap. Once we are communicating we can engage and lift each other up in musical conversations and adventures. This feeds my soul and is the reason I play. When this happens, people notice and appreciate the music even if it is not their favorite song on the radio.
