I had lunch with a pal who used to be a teacher. He said a bright young student told him once that we should be allowed to all the guns we want but they have to be locked in an armoury.

his answer sums up the whole conundrum: who gets the key to the armoury?

This country is divided along many lines right now. Nobody really trusts anybody. We all agree that some folks shouldn't have weapons but none of us trust the others to make sound judgements in that regard so we are afraid to act -justifiably.

At best, all any of us can do is to make of themselves the best person they can be. If armed, vow always to put safety way ahead and only use weapons in defense of self or others. Since literally millions of us already think that way - we can be left out of the equation. We are only a threat, ever, to an aggressor. The aggressors know that and want our guns.

Meantime the pacifists, liberals and inner city gangs can figure out among themselves how they wish to comport themselves.

Let's face it, we are all guilty of these massacres and to blame just the shooters is to miss the point. Violence is part of our culture a National heritage, violence in our country is condoned, encouraged, appreciated this is reflected by what’s happening nationally and internationally.
We are considered the most violent country/people in world; a country bent and determined to show the worst side of ourselves while obscuring everything that is good in America.

It’s time to reboot and reset our moral values not just symbolically but substantially, to take a new path and leave behind the now obsolete and anachronist rationales which serves us well in the past but hopelessly outdated in the 21St century.

The 2nd Amendment and the justification of its existence is no longer valid, anybody who believes that they can rebel or even overthrow an oppressive government with their small arms against a government possessing the most advance war apparatus at its disposal is just not being realistic.

So long we keep treating the symptoms of these tragedies and ignore the root cause we are sadly going to experience more cruel and senseless loss of lives in the future.

Let’s address as a country and as a national policy the reasons of why we have so many desperate citizens amongst us who resort to mass killing, pundits and experts will come up no doubt with a plethora of reasons, some will be on the mark some will be farfetched but the important point will be that the country as a whole will be engaged maybe for the first time in trying to understand.

So far this violent trend has been treated as par for the course by everybody when it should be seeing as a national crisis, according the FBI stats there were 14.612 violent deaths murders if you will compare that to the murder rate let’s say England of 35 annual violent deaths the stark difference should tell us that we are doing badly.

Let workers work for wages allowing 1 parent to support a family while the other parent can stay home and raise the children supervised, let’s replaced our predator/ winner take all/survival of the fittest brand of capitalism with a more inclusive and yes do I dare say a more human capitalism, this IMO would go a long way in removing the alienation and the desperation that permeates throughout the most vulnerable, desperate and intellectually ill equipped individuals.

Going back to my shelter to deal with my sorrow/pain and seek oblivion from the names and age of those innocent and families.

Lets take that a step further. Ever walk past a couple of really ugly people smooching in a mall? Or on the street?

Perhaps giant mirrors in the doorways of all public places and on street corners may help discourage that. I always brings to mind the thought . "Stop that! Do you have any idea of what your kids are going to look like?"

The gun grab is not about dead children, or live ones.
It's about wresting power from the people.

You already know why. It is impossible for this regime to go full tyranny until the guns are out of the hands of those who would defend the constitution and our bill of rights. These dictator light traitors want nothing more than to disarm all who love this country and are willing to defend it.
