OK fess up. How many will admit they've seen a UFO? I have, several times. I'm an amateur astronomer so I'm always looking at the sky. The first one I saw was when I was 11 years old, I was with my whole family. We were driving on a road close to home when we noticed all the cars pulled off on the side of the road. People were outside their cars looking at the sky. So we stopped and looked too; it was a reddish cigar shaped object slowly crossing the sky from northeast to southwest. It was dropping small objects. We watched until it disappeared, then everyone just got in their cars and drove away. I never heard an official explanation, but my dad told us it was "floating garbage on fire". Years later he admitted that he just invented that explanation because he didn't want to scare us. He then told me another encounter he had; he was driving in the desert in Arizona late at night when an object dropped out of the sky and landed on the road about 100 yards from him. As he approached the craft it shot off into the sky. He said that one really shook him up.

Well, it's more creative than a "weather balloon" or "swamp gas".

I have never seen a UFO but I do believe they exist. Also I believe that once we are able to REALLY explore the universe we will find that life is abundant throughout. I believe that in my lifetime man will discover alien life, I am not saying the life they find will be intelligent. Furthermore I believe they will find it in our solar system perhaps on one of the moons covered with water. I too am always looking up in the sky especially at night. Last night the moon was so bright it was casting shadows from the trees in our yard. I am a HUGE science fiction and science fact NUT!

We used to take dry cleaning bags (the really light clear plastic kind), seal up the tops with scotch tape, then using McDonalds straws to make an 'X' frame, and birthday candles stuck to the straws, we'd make a 'UFO'. The hot air from the candles would inflate the bag, then because of the light weight of everything, it would drift up into the air.
When the candles started burning out, the bag woudl start to deflate, and as the plastic touched candles it would melt and catch fire, dropping little firey plastic bombs!

Well, at least we've got that in common.

I think if there is any intelligent life out there they will avoid us until humanity "grows up" a little.

But, just by sheer laws of averages there has to be life on other planets.

it's a shame, but true- should intelligent life approach us, we would most likely either shoot it's craft down, or "detain" them after landing.

Anyone half as intelligent as myself would observe mankind for a week and come to the conclusion that man is doomed. Mankind (on average) is too confrontational, aggressive, greedy, and socially retarded. We kill each other, we take power and use it against people. We poison the very food and water we need to survive, the very air we need to breathe, all in short-sighted and greedy attempts to enhance ones wealth. And the rest of the humans all bow down and worship the wealth, all wanting to be included in the wealthy class.

Yep. Doomed. I can see why no intelligent life would dare to approach us.

Native Americans (Indians) never had the mindset the European immigrants had.. they shared the hunting grounds, did not believe a human could "own" land since the Great Spirit who is actually who owns it?.... they did not pollute the waters, never over harvested bison, they never "jailed" anybody... yet, they are made out to be the backwards people..

I Read somewhere that there was an invisible man in the sky...and I'm certain he exists... But I always get laughed at when I bring 'that' up LOL

I'm not sure we're doomed but I agree with intelligent life not wanting to approach us. It would also not be wise at all to approach an alien if the opportunity were to ever present itself as they would have the ability to instantly vaporize you.

I doubt if we'll ever know. I should have made it clear that although I have seen UFOs, I am not conviced they are of extraterrestrial origin. The odds of advanced life forms developing interstellar space travel capability and actually wanting to come to earth are vanishingly tiny. I'm even more skeptical that they are "us" from the future and coming back in time. I would readily believe that they are craft built by someone right here on earth, but if they are they have done a masterful job of covering it up.

Thank you for glossing over the question that is being discussed, typical flat lander syndrome.

The point is we aren't alone and more than that is unknown at this time.

(I wouldn't worry too much about what they taste like. You should worry about if they think you taste good to them because if they made it to here, they should have little trouble making you dinner and I don't mean "Shells and cheese".)
