Fixing the solder joints is easy.
Better than the sealed cables that you can't fix unless you cut them up...

And speaking of china and cheap prices...

Clones galore.
The cheap strat copy I grabbed is easily around a $250 to $300 value - for 90 bucks.
Especially for you techs and tweak-ers out there.
Good return policy too if you happen to get a bad one.

Don't think I have a picture handy of my Whirlwind cable, but it does have a shrink tubing strain relief on it. I bought it in Houston in about 1990, still working great and has never been re soldered. I've stepped on it, caught it on things and yanked it out of guitars, used it onstage every time I've played since the day I bought it, never been let down.

Then again I make my own too, and have patch cables I soldered over 10 years ago, still working...I had a cable with a bad spot somewhere in the middle, made up several short patch cables, threw away the middle section. They still work after at least 10 years, but I also put shrink tubing over the solder joints to offer at least a little stress relief. If I don't use that, I try to crimp the cable in so that it has a little slack before the solder joints, which also gives it a little strain relief. It pulls at the crimp, not at the solder joint.

Sad to see Whirlwind made in China...I guess no more of theirs for me...

you're right
there is shrink tube over the solder connection

to the detractors;
my main point was that for what you get this was a good deal, and I thought I would reward the seller by passing on the info, there are quite a few working musicians here and it never hurts to have a couple of extra cables around.
I never believed it would be Cadillac
irregardless it seems pretty decent.
