Yep, I can hear the James Taylor..

Why is it so damn low? I have the volume up all the way and can barely hear it.

It's not too bad. You need some rehearsal but it's doable for sure.
Your timing is a little off, but there are far worse sins than this.

The world likes cleaner musicians just fine, especially in your neck of the woods.

I'm not crazy about your style, but your voice doesn't give me chills the way some of these people do.. As in I wouldn't leave or turn the station if your tune came down the line.

Yeah that's alright, you have nothing to be upset about and I'm quite sure you'll do even better with a load of experience under your belt.

I have to laugh, some people never get better even with an auto-tuner and lip sync track. You are not in this category, rest easy Jacob.
Keep working, start writing, keep recording, welcome to bmix..

I have to say I like the quality of your voice, it's eerily like James Taylor..

I was able to hear the one recording you have posted.

1) Nice American Indie folk style. I like what you did with the bass track (or was that acoustic )
2) Song needs a middle.
3) SOng Needs a sprinkle of percussion, like an occasional snare and/or bass (a tiny dose here an there.)

4) Needs to be worked off a click track. The meter was a tad erradic,
5) Good vocal... Melody was kinda monotonial...(Middle would mix that up)

I liked the song and its got very good potential for a real studio production.

These are my humble opinions...

Its like the section in a song after a couple rounds of the main verse and the chorus. I think you might have tried to...by adding a harmony, but all that did was put variation on the main verse/ or chorus.

A middle usually changes melody and chord structure for 4- 8 bars, then returns back to the main verse.

Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOQjDAk0 ... ure=fvwrel

Listen to this brilliant young man and follow his main theme, then note the middle (subtle changes in phrase , melody) The key is in how he articulates the main idea (and the greater Idea)

Guitar is delightful. Mood of the cover is warm and charming. Vocals are good and promising. You DO have business singing. Do more.

And put down the cigs before they wreck your vocals and health.

Give me a review when you get a chance.
