What is important is the perception that people have of people who are receiving aid. While there may be a percentage of people who are ripping off the system, and who knows what that percentage really is, what's disturbing to me is the amount of prejudging. My son, for example, looks perfectly normal to the uninitiated. He's receiving thousands of dollars of aid per month. He looks like somebody who could rip your head off, but he's actually quite helpless. The federal government has made great strides in recent years to reduce the amount of abuse in the welfare system, so much so that there's a small fraction (way under 10%) now abusing the system. The vast majority who receive food stamps need them to SURVIVE, literally. I'm self-employed. My gross sales in 2011 was HALF what it was in 2010. I haven't applied for food stamps, but I'm going to look into it, and if I qualify I'll be grateful to have them. I wouldn't be embarassed and I'm happy that federal aid is available to those that need it, so I simply say STOP prejudging, don't begrudge anybody. You don't know their circumstances in life. And for crying out loud this red state/blue state talk is inane, meaningless, nonsense. It doesn't prove a damn thing. We're all in this together and need to work out a pragmatic way to KEEP the safety net for people who really need it.

Bob,

As a conservative (I'm a conservative only to people, who are frightened of working hard) .....

If you need to collect stamps... That doesn't offend me at all... You are seemingly , a responsible man, who works for a living, provides for his family and doesn't dead-beat on his kids... If you need food stamps brother, By all means, grab as many as you can.. Get all the federal aid you can . If we were close pals, I'd be inclined to drop some cash in your hand , Cause I do that for friends) ...

WHat I cant (and wont ) do, is support lazy, worthless dead-beat losers . America is full of em. They are a drain on the goodwill of others. They give nothing back (except ideological lip service...and most of the time they cant even get that right.) They are essentially, Takers. My problem With the leadership in DC is that it enables these assholes. I get in trouble i f I choose to beat the sh*t out of them for car jacking me. What pisses me off the most... is the peanut Gallery of bleeding hearts who pretend to be compassionate, and give a pass to these assholes, because they are fearful of being 'thought of as 'right-wing' They are so Fkn stupid and vain, that in some states, they pass laws that say it's okay to suck a dick in Disneyland but its not okay to smoke a cigar in a bar. How fkn retarded is that...
. The problem you're having is labeling who is, and who isn't a deadbeat loser. My brother-in-law is a degreed professional who worked in the semiconductor business for decades until three years ago, when basically the last vestiges of a once giant American industry relocated overseas. He and hundreds of thousands of people like him have not been able to find a job and have given up trying. It's really impossible for you to judge exactly who is, and who isn't a "deadbeat" loser. The federal government is doing a much better job at determining that in the last five years. I would bet that THE deciding factor in Romney's loss in the election was his 47% comment, that "moochers" wouldn't vote for him. The fact is that the majority of "moochers" would rather have a good job where they don't have to mooch and are NOT "deadbeat losers" and were rather pissed off at Romney's lack of compassion, and demonstrated being pissed off at the voting booth.

and this is an ass-umption that bugs me too. of course there are always gonna be those looking for a free ride and taking advantage. it's the assumption that it's "everyone" or "most people" rcvng some kind of assistance is a deadbeat working the system. the ass-umption that obama won because people were looking for "free stuff".

that thinking is not only offensive, it's also insulting to everyone who is in genuine need...people like bob and his family who aren't "moochers". that line of thinking does little to show those holding those views as having any compassion, humanity, or being very realistic.

I was "unemployed" for about 4 years...Couldn't find a 'job' to save my soul. So, instead of sitting on my ass collecting welfare, smoking cigarettes and drinking, I went to school (and I did intern work for 7 bucks an hour..where I smoked cigarettes and drank) ) . After that, I was unemployed for another 2 years.. My Address was intermittenly 1991 Camry. Nobody would hire me... So, instead of sitting on my ass collecting welfare, smoking cigarettes and drinking, I banged on doors and collected projects...enough to call myself an IT consultant, who smoked and drank :). I got paid and all that experience finally l got me a job with the big boys of IT, who also smoke and drink. At no time, did I collect stamps or welfare. I had friends and family who pitched in...And I have since paid them back.

Oh , I forgot... I was paying C.S. on time.

The prisons are full of losers who 'could' but 'wont stop being lazy asses. They always look for the shortcuts... Those are the guys that take and dont give.

The way I see it,. if a fella keeps above board and he tries his best, no matter what the circumsatnces, he's not a loser in my book and I'm more than happy to see him get federal aid. But I want to see hard work, no lolligagging

The ass umption here is that no one else ever works as hard as you. Well Boo-phucking-hoo! Anyone collecting assistance must be a lazy good-for-nothing who just drinks and smokes cigarettes while sitting on their ass. While it must be nice to find the opportunities when you really need them, not everyone is so lucky. A LOT of people are just plain f*cked, no matter how hard they work at it. And some people, physically, are just incapable of doing the work they did before anymore and can't do anything else. So, on behalf of them and myself...kiss my ass.

YOU, maam, are a Fkg LOSER (as in textbook case) .. You are one of those ass-wipes who needs the ever-living sh*t kicked out of him because you are such a worthless sponge. You have absolutely nothing to offer... except complaints...and you leave nothing but a trail of trash, where-ever you go. What stops you from jumping off a bridge? PLease do us a favor and promise us that you will NEVER BREED. Your ignorance is surpassed only by your laziness. Must be nice to be on free meds and to have a free therapist , who is the only person on earth who knows how to make you believe that he/she actually gives a sh*t about anything you have to say. Go ring up Glambert, he's looking for a butt pirate buddy. Mayboe you two can jerk each other off while you cry his shoulder about how unfair this world is to you. Next bus you catch, please step out in front of it first.

Dizz First of let me apologize for the way I talked to you last night! Listen I am very frustrated because I see the country going in a VERY BAD direction. There doesn't seem to be a damn thing I can do about it! I have seen this argument before on this forum and frankly it is equivalent to the "why does no one respond to me when I contact them"! There are a lot of variables involved in how much a state pays to the feds vs. how much they get back. Still with all my frustration it is no excuse for what I said to you! Please except my apology! I think you are an outstanding young man and I was wrong bro!

That's how I feel about the music in general, "You better come at me with something better or I'll tear you a new one when I dissect your latest piece of crap".

I don't mean to slam your penis in the door but if you hang it out and act like it's OK, you may have a curvature when the mfer heals from being slammed in the door.

It's ok to cry now. lol

Politics? How about a little reality.

We have become a nation of imbeciles. The left wants to steal my money to help the 'poor.' And they keep adding to the 'poor' by leaving the doors and gates open. Funny how little of the total money they steal actually helps any poor people. They care about the environment they tell me - but import more and more people to trash it.

It has devolved into nothing more than a justification for ever more stealing from the productive but produces no real help for the impoverished. Part of it has become basically a bribe to keep those scary gang bangers from possibly hurting any rich pigs. The rich pigs of course have armed guards but want to steal our guns - little people should not have weapons right?

The right steals my money for 'defense.' We all love the military - our heroes, fighting to keep us free. Free? This country hasn't been free since the fities and it was hitting the skids then. 'Defense' means attacking anyone the uberworld feels like attacking and shilling young patriotic kids to do the dirty work.

We could defend ourselves with very little. We are a nuclear power for gosh sake. We could have ended the 'war on terror' the night it started. But the various 'wars,' on terror, on drugs, on poverty - all the reall fighting goes to lining some fat pig's pocket.

When I wanted a war fought - I went and fought it. I didn't insist that your kids fight it, or that you pay for it. When I want to help the poor I do so - out of my time and money - I don't stick a gun in your face and demand you 'care.' Why do you want to do that to me?

So left and right both think I'm a skunk - silly leftist kids who mistake uberworld brain washing for idealism woof at me and right wingers think I'm a bad guy because I don't support the wars for imaginary 'freedom.'

Meanwhile, back at the police state, the govt / Bankster coalition has built a security apparatus that Stalin would have envied - and it's pointed at us.

Good luck with all that politics. Two party system? Please...
