The Rebel flag has a different meaning and importance to different folks. I'll give you and example from personal experience. Back in 2001 I was playing in a tropical style band. We played lots of Buffet and tropical style music. Anyway on the way to a gig I stopped in a convenience store to get a long neck koozie to keep me beer cold (it was HOT that day)! When I went inside the store apparently everyone else had the same idea as there weren't many koozie's left. After trying to decide between the pink girly one and another with these small little bitty rebel flags guess which one I picked? I get to the gig get set up sound checked and went to the bar and grabbed a longneck put it in the koozie and went to the stage. In this band there was a skinney bass player (black chic) and a MONSTER PHUKIN bass player the best I have ever played with. Anyway she see's my koozie and said "where did you get that" to which I replied it was this or the Girly pink one. She said I would have rather you have gotten the pink one. After seeing her contempt to my koozie I looked at it and realized they were little rebel flags! So her being my friend and the one that introduced me to my now wife. I went back to the bar and purchased one of their koozies placed my beer in it and put the rebel flag one in my gig bag. Moral of this story is pay attention to your koozie it may offend someone!

Oops posted this to the wrong thread! This is meant for the flag flip floppin thread LMAO!

Romney's attempts at "humor" are so bad, that it in itself almost makes them funny... thank god he didn't go into aviation design, and he only kills businesses instead of airline passengers.

My nickname in the army was 'rebel,' and it summed me up nicely. I'm proud of the flag and make no bones about. (you might be surprised to know that I bore that nickname while in an African Rifle unit)

When I fly a US flag it's always the Betsy Ross version - I can salute that with no problem. Not much on the empire flag - sorry if that offends.

on the other hand I did rough up a hippy who was burning a yankee flag in some demonstration back during VN. My father fought under it and I wouldn't let him disgrace it. He was very offended but not enough to call my bluff.

I remain the most unreconstructed rebel in GA. And my boss, who is black, and our primary client, who is black - don't seem to mind too much. All though the latter did call me a 'hardheaded hillbilly' once.

Really? The moronic lying dictator that you support would pull the wings off all the airplanes if he had his way. He would be the only one who could have access to an airplane.

Romney also wants screen doors installed in submarines and a ladder on the space station in case anyone wants to climb down.

i heard romney is gonna do away w manhole covers to save time (since time IS money) when workers need to descend into the sewers.

he's also been making noises about leaving fire hydrants unplugged...once again saving time so he can cut the budget by laying off some firefighters.

That's exciting news about the manhole covers. Do you I'll be able to pick up a couple as surplus? 8) I'd pay even more for the actual manholes!

There's a difference between "Romney wants screen doors on submarines" and "Obummer." The former is a joke that takes something specific Romney said and humorously extends its implications to other forms of transportation with particular design requirements for their respective operating environments. Note that there's no personal attack against Mitt Romney here; it's merely playing on his apparently poor understanding of the physics of air travel. The latter, on the other hand, is a derisive nickname that attacks President Obama personally, and demonstrates no wit or intellectual sophistication besides a cheap pun on the President's name. Most importantly, the nickname "Obummer" gives no indication why the President is perceived as a "bummer," and the ad hominem attack implies that the person using this nickname cannot offer, or at least is uninterested in offering, any substantial support for their position. If President Obama is anywhere near as bad as you say he is, you should have no trouble making fun of him for things he has actually said and done rather than merely for who he is as a person.

Just sayin'.

"Just sayin" - haha, that was an essay! So meticulous! and so unreasonable of an expectation!

We have this thing called "context" in language. It exists in this forum too!

We all know Jeff and the playful banter between he and Jimmy, and therefore we know "Obummer" is a poke. We also know what he thinks of Obama and why. It's easy to leverage this knowledge to understand what is meant by the term.

It should be apparent what is meant by the explicative "frak" when a person hits his finger with a nail. It would be entertaining if instead he yelled "o frak I Ihit My finger with this hammer by accident!" instead, but entirely unnecessary.

NOPE no difference! It's all a matter of perspective! You liberals all THINK you can say anything you want about the opposing candidate but the minute someone says something about yours you throw a hissy fit! "whats good for the goose is good for the gander"!

Hey Jimmy ............Bazinga!
