problem with electric cars-

In trade, we have to use electricity to recharge them, burning more coal and nuclear (waste) to escape from fossil fuels. Seems like a cutting off the nose to spite the face circumstance.

The hydrogen cars are still more myth than reality. They openly say in the article that all nissans will use the technology from the leaf vehicle, but the article fails to mention that the leaf is built on Toyota's first generation prius hybrid model, which toyota sold them. toyota is now on generation 5. So why not just buy a prius...

You didn't read the article? It is an electric car that charges the batteries with an onboard hydrogen fuel generator! obviously they would have to solve the problem of hydrogen fuel availabilty!

The last thing I need is for these non-drivin' Californians to have a flying car.

But hey, I'm interested in the electric hydrogen thing here. I think it may be interesting, since I was in the pro-hydrogen camp.

I agree that electric cars would suck way too much power to be worth the time and energy.

Great Idea Jeff,,, But unfortunately Hydrogen is not a readily available natural resource. Hydrogen must be created and that takes energy, (electricity). You see the cool thing about hydrogen is that on a molecular level it wants to join with oxygen to form water.

To put it in perspective,,, It would take 16 trillion to the 10th factor in the #of solar panels and the same amount in windmills to create enough electricity to create enough hydrogen to power up 1/10 of the vehicles on the road today.

That would blanket every square inch on Earth and thus make this planet unable to support one drivable car.

You know, some of this is true,,, I'm also poking fun at all the bull that is being circulated at every level, top down , bottom up.

BULL.
