I haven't been able to get on in the last day and a half.

I got stung badly between 10-15x by something that looked like a small bee but wasn't.

I had a minor reaction, but I got through it.
It created a deep bone pain for me and that was the worst of it.
(It wouldn't go away at all.)(no dr. visit)

I ended up swelling up very badly.

I was at the dog park today and a nurse had an epi pen.
So she jabbed me and I am starting to deflate, slowly but surely.

It's still hard to type and I'll probably sleep for a full day tomorrow, but at least I don't feel like a hot, swollen, balloon anymore and my left knee was locking up, but no more.

(last night was a real bitch)

Funny You mentioned EpiPen...
Today I was teaching a class at work, when the subject came up...And more weird than that... there was a photo floating around of some kid with a swollen face (from Bee stings) which is how the subject of the epipen came up...

Who woulda thought this was manifesting in ol Scotty, 2000 miles away!?

Better see a doctor/specialist - bee stings can be fatal if your allergic reaction closes up your windpipe. You can carry around meds 'just in case'.

Glad you got that epi pen in time. Regardless, get better and look forward to the fact that if you have arthritis, you should get some relief for a while.

I'd have to see a picture to have a idea what the insect was, but as far as allergic reaction goes, if you're sill alive in about 20 minutes, you're not allergic, it'll pass.

Seriously, and if George pops in I think he'll back me up, 20 minutes and you're dead. If you're here talking about it the next day without serious medical attention, you're not allergic.

An allergic reaction to a bee or wasp sting is very serious, the biggest danger is swelling of the esophagus, which results in inability to breathe. My uncle's ex wife is allergic, the one time I know of she got stung she didn't have her kit. He got her to the hospital in about 15 minutes, she was already unconscious. Doctor told him she had less than 5 minutes when he got her there. Her windpipe was almost swollen shut. They got antidote in her in time, no serious damage.

I got stung (red wasps) over 50 times when I was about 14, made me sick the next day, but a day or two later I was back to normal. Don't want to do it again though...already knew I wasn't allergic though. Still didn't make it any fun...

Epi-pen: Epinephrine (Artificial Adrenilan). The pen operates on spring action needle. When you administer one, usually you do it on the patients leg, (outter thigh) . You 'lightly slam the tip of the pen onto the surface of the leg, with just enough force to trigger the spring and deliver the needle into the muscle area, There, it releases the epinephrine. and helps to prevent anaphylaxis (allergic reaction). But yas still gotta take that person to the emergency room...

I am so thankful the Captain pulled through, he is about the only guy here, who has the balls, to say "enough is a enough".. this is not surreal, but true..he tries to keep the peace here, he reasons with people, if you mouth off too much, he asks,"don't you have a new tune to upload"?.. I like that..
