I have not been checked for it in 6 or 7 years, I did not have it then , but sitting at a computer all day, not getting as much exercise as I should be getting, eating too much bread, cakes, taters is not a good thing when my brother has the mild form of it...

Dane the dead give away that tells you, you absolutely are diabetic is, you cannot get a good nights sleep because you are up urinating 7,8,9,15 times a night. AND you have an unquenchable thirst! you go to bed with 3, 1 litre bottles of water!
Friends when this happens to you and let me be VERY clear you HAVE to get your @ss to the Doctor! If you don't Blindness and Dialysis is Next! If you do become Type 2 diabetes its not the end of the world! I have learned to live with it and I drink a case of HORSE PISS (low carb beer) a week! I however do NOT consume sugar at all NADA!

Ditto that Jeff...and Might I add...If anybody here thinks or knows that they have the onset Type II ...Start eating a sh*t load MORE of vegetables (And shitload LESS of red meat) in your diets eThere are studies that indicate Type II can be reversed in many cases. In fact, a 6 week pure raw vegetable diet was shown to work like that for some very sick people in London.

Jeff, You aint gonna like this, but that horse piss is just as bad as the good stuff... remember all alcohol ultimately turns into sugar, (The yeast and hops gives you the carbs). And The sugar is what puts your pancreas through a pounding...

I know Grant! But PHUK IT LOL! It drives my wife crazy! We were having a conversation as she asked when it comes down to loosing some toes or quitting drinking what will you do? I said loose toes! She looked at me and said "you are one stubborn son of a bitch" Seriously though If I feel that unhealthy I'll make the necessary changes! Just to squeeze off one more hit of this WONDERFUL DRUG called music!
Really my Dr. praises me and just mailed the lab results of my Blood work from last Thursday. He said loose 10 pounds and you can quit taking your Glucovance! Oh sh*t me father in law is coming down from Alaska to stay the winter and did I mention he has been a cook his ENTIRE life after Nam of course! Looks like I am gonna have to start walking again! Yee Haw DAMN gonna eat GOOD!

thanks for the kind words and for checking the tunes y'all.

this thread has taken a sideways turn (imagine that) about diabetes and health related issues.

dane, jeff, and anyone else dealing w any health related issues...sorry you've got that on your plate.

as much of a pain in the ass as it is (often literally... as in my case) you've GOTTA stay in front of things. there's nothing to gained by burying your head in the sand.

i'm coming up on 12 yrs cancer free. at the ripe old age of 44 my GP discovered a mass in my rectum. that's always cracked me up....i mean what heterosexual male DOESN'T love taking about a "mass in their rectum"????

my luck...it ended up being malignant. so....surgery, chemo, radiation... then followup chemo, then followup radiation.

anyway, i was lucky. i had a good doc who caught it early and so i was able to keep all my working parts in working order. phew.

point? stay on top of things as best you can when it comes to your health.

jimmydanger wrote:I got a chance to listen, I think my favorite is "What I Did This Afternoon". Very nice stuff! Love the vibes, I used to jam with a drummer that was studying vibraphone in college, his dad bought him this $3,000 instrument.

thanks jimmy. sad to say 3K for a vibraphone isn't all that much. i was lucky enough to find mine on ebay a cpl yrs ago. the guy selling it had got it in an estate auction. he had itlisted as a 1976 DEAGAN 593 Commander I. he had it up w a buy it now price of 2K (shipped)...this is/was a great price for this vibe so i jumped on it. when it arrived and i started unpacking i was very pleasantly surprised to see it was in fact a 594 Commander II....same vibe but w the addition of great sounding pickups! one piezo under each bar.

if you're lucky enough to find anyone willing to part w one of these old Deagan's they usually go around 4K and up.

there's a pic of mine on my profile page. it's very similar to the one below.

btw...the "vibes" i'm playing on "What I Did This Afternoon" that's actually my malletKAT.

I should add that was 30 years ago, I'm sure they're more like 4-5K now. They looked similar to your picture.
