He embodied the American spirit. To overcome at all odds and expand the American dream. A dream that all men could overcome the limitations placed on us from one small planet. A dream that would place the welfare of all men on the course for extreme success.
The 60s and 70s were driven by an incredible can do attitude. Even when the first energy crises sunk Jimmy Carters re election hopes and we were facing tremendous domestic problems,, The Apollo space program was leading us in ways that can't be measured in dollars.
Neil Armstrong was a very quiet leader. Yet he was a great man.
It is sad that only one station had the courage to devote a major amount of time to this loss of a great AMERICAN.
I hope someone has the courage to pick up the torch that he just passed.

The wife was out having a cig. last night in the backyard. She went to school with Gene Krantz daughter, still corresponds via facebook. Anyway I went out to look at the moon and we both gave it a wink. Neils footprints are still there on the moon at that landing spot and they say they will prolly be the longest lasting footprints from mankind!

Sad, but I had not heard a single thing about it until now.

Fortunately, fearless leader hopes to stamp out planet pollution by America with his policies. Leaving junk on Mars and the moon is simply intolerable. The very idea of polluting the pristine surface of the moon with footprints has caused many a liberal tree hugger untold nights of lost sleep.

Obama can hardly be considered anti-space, and neither can most "liberals" that I know. Remember it was a Democratic president who made the goal of a mission to the moon a priority, and a reality.

Obama has made it clear that a mission to an asteroid should be accomplished by 2025:

This makes sense; mining asteroids could provide the next major boost for mankind.

As far as leaving junk on other planets, I am against that; I believe we should go back and clean up those messes someday.
