I'm off to see Procol Harum/Yes tonight. This marks the 25th time seeing Yes for me. The first time I saw them open for Black Sabbath in 1972.

Chris Squire has to be bthe best bass player of all time.

Procul Harum isn't that Trower's old warmup band?

Trower played on the first five Procol Harum albums from 1967 to 1971.

As always Im jealous Jimmy, you guys get the best bands playing in your area.

Looks like Yes didn't come anywhere near you this tour John, sorry. I saw them last in 2009 after their new singer joined the band. I really didn't miss Jon Anderson much.

that was a good album.

I spent 1984 and 1985 playing "90125" on my car stereo, couldn't get enough of it....well, I alternated it with Robert Plants "Principle of Moments"...good times!!

My sister had an interesting chat with Chris Squire many years ago. She told me, "He's just like you!"

My chest swelled. I assumed she was talking about my bass playing, but no... She said his first question after the gig was, "Did I sound allright?"

Great show last night. I like new singer Jon Davison better than Jon Anderson, what a strong voice. Geoff Downes played keys. They did some cool stuff from "Tales" and "Going For The One". Procol Harum was excellent as well. Beautiful night for an outdoor concert. This marked my 40th anniversary of seeing Yes, my 25th time.

Jon Anderson was never a strong vocalist, but his lyrics and style defined their sound - why do you think they keep hiring people who sound like him?!
I was lucky enough to catch 2 tours in the last 10+ years with Anderson and Wakeman playing with them. The last time was videoed for the DVD 'Live at the Tsongas' - occasionally they show parts of this on PBS. It's well worth getting.
When I saw them last year (as the opener for Styx), Benoit (corrected!!), the singer, certainly could hit Anderson's notes but did not express the feelings. The lack of Wakeman showed to me, too.

Actually the singer you saw was Benoit David, Trevor Horn is their producer. Jon Davidson is a fantastic singer, sounding like Anderson but with a younger, stronger voice. Geoff Downes was considerably better than Oliver Wakeman (Rick's son) who I had last seen with the band in 2009.

Yeah that triple-neck bass was way cool!

I'm glad you liked Procol Harum too, "Home" and "A Salty Dog" are my favorites but the first album is damned good too.
