Now that you guys have explained it to me I guess I understand.

For two years I taught beginners how to rock out, and watching them with thier optimism inspired me to play better.

I guess thats what you guys are talking about, but Im just a dumb redneck guitar player I play mainly to A-MUSE myself!

A Muse is something/someone that inspires you to play, to want to play better, to create new tunes, lead guitar parts, learn new instruments, write lyrics - makes you want to do more and not languish in mediocrity.

I call that an idepently thinking mind, I agree with
Klugmo it's all in you, you ain't getting it nowhere
else, even if you've convinced yourself of said muse.

Your control yur whole life not a muse, it wins or loses
on you not some muse. What do they call that Manifest
Destiny? I don't know, but I've found you can achieve any
goal you want, if your willing to work at it, no matter what.

What alas, is the amp, without its fuses? Naught, but a lonely speaker then, slave to the magnetized center and a cracked fiber board... Signal unrequited; tone un-nurtured; effect drowned in banality, forever doomed to dynamics of a pancake breakfast coordinator, doing his sound check with a salvo of "test 123"s . Every amp must embrace its fuse.

I'm just not very religous anymore, and try to
look for another explanation.

I know how a friends life and death can affect you,
it has't been good for me. I lost my 2 best friends
about 10 years ago, they pissed me off they didn't
even say goodbye. Now I'm 53 and people I know and
love die everydy now. To me the world changes every
day because of this death, I don't know about a muse
but these things can't help but be reflected in my music.

Judging from the music you have on your profile, I'd say 'find your muse'. You can play, but where's the soul?

I had quit playing for over 25 years.

My friend began to send guitars to me in the mail from DesMoines. First he sent a Crappy lead plywood Strat, then he sent a brand new Les Paul in a hardshell case, then he sent a New American Telecaster with hard shell case.

It worked. I started playing again. Only then did I realize how much I missed playing.

That's a good friend!

I think soul in music is different for
everybody. My kids adore Avenged
Sevenfold, but I can't hear any soul
in the music.

Yet I know it's there thru there passion
for this style of music.

If you've done anything in your life, I think
this will show in your music, good or bad.

Everybody's different, that's what's so cool
about the world we live in, diversity.

Sounds like you lost your fire/passion, not your muse. Muse = someone who inspires (I believed someone has already covered the Greek origin ala the Goddesses).
