Sounds like you have a system!

We record live with a scratch vocal track. All instruments are isolated. Then we all take everything home and listen to it and mark the exact time there's a mistake. 95% of mistakes can be corrected without re-doing the part. Then the vocals are recorded. Done.

If you have time try to correct any mistakes that require punches that day; no matter how you try it's near impossible to reproduce the recording environment on another day, levels get changed, microphones can get placed slightly different, you might pick with different intensity, etc. Good luck!

Im with Jimmy, if Im going to try to punch in and fix something I like to do it right them while everything is set up the same, and Im in the mood.

Ive left amps overnight, not touched a thing and I cant ever get my tone just the same if I leave something uncovered. Its weird, maybe its just humidity in the air of something. But its almost impossible to match up a day or so later. For me anyway. Guess Im just not that slick?

Just my 2 cents

No it's not just you John. Haven't you ever noticed that your rig sounds different on different days? Tube amps are especially sensitive to that, and guitars themselves have "personalities" depending on the weather. I suppose that's why we think of them as women!

No sh*t dudes. Seems like every little weather change I have to tweak the knobs.

And then I have to make adjustments on my music equipment too.

Seriously temperature and humidity greatly affect sound waves. Dialed in today don't mean your dialed in tomorrow.

But hell if the system works for Bob I say run with it!

I have some buddies in San DIego who were weekend warriors (with Paintball) and they used to come back on Mondays, all red and swoll up from the ubiquitous poison ivy /Oak out there... Many a bottle of calamine lotion ...I use to laugh at em, till one of em 'rubbed' his infected arm on my arm... That bitch didnt stop itching for a week ha ha!
