There is a woman in my life who is my best friend... In a different world, a different time, she could very well have been my wife... As it stands, shes an awesome best friend . She's this tiny Nordic blonde chick with an extraordinary mind , heart and a spirit that is distinct and great.

She bought me the Martin For Xmas when I visited her in Seattle a few years ago.

I normally refer to her as "Fire munchkin" , but this song is a tribute to her and I'm calling her the "Nordic Dove"... here...

As always its just a premix copy...not finished ... but wanted to share it with my BM friends...

The song , using standard scales could probably fit thousands of progressions already been done. LOL! My song is just another loaf of bread, with yet another twist of the same old yeast in the dough ..ha ha!

There are parts of the bass which could stand to change pattern differently, that would give that oomph you speak of... I have actually discussed that with George (Arriola, Not Harrison...LOL!)


The dropped beatles tune comments is presumed to actually be the highest paid compliment.. I think You have ever issued to a BM member... Thanks!! :lol::lol:

After listening to those Ozzy tunes (you had posted a few days ago) I can see where you might feel disappointed in the lack of "power" behind this song... But then again... who ever heard of an "Iron Dove"

(I don't do subterfuge or "thinly veiled comments", if ya think it's a compliment, it is. (and it was))

And no-n0, the bass part is fine. It how you mix it !!!!
Nothing melodically changes, just different mastering techniques.

I didn't pay you any compliment I wouldn't have said to anyone else, relax jr and don't pass out the cigars yet. lol It is good though..

The Ozzy squeals are just in regard to the Fernandes Sustainer.

Sure I like heavy stuff and that type of thing I am trying to do with "Asteroid Suicide Cult", but that genre has nothing to do with your tune here. It's not synonymous at all.

If you got have cafe au lait and it tastes excellent to you, do you then add chocolate milk to it because you can>? I contend that when you add too much "goodness" to anything, you reduce how "good" it really is at that point.

If you put heavy guitar on that tune, you get the "chicken curse" as well.

Now I feel like I am having the same argument with Les when we were finishing "MINT".
He wanted a guitar line on it and I thought that was our "piano predominant" tune.
At the very end, I think he heard what I was eluding to and we left it "as is".
Next thing you know it hit #5 on SoundClick.
I may not know why it's good, but I can tell when it's good !!! lolz

Truth is , I'm shooting for a full release "Homemade Remedies" (10 Songs) by October...

The thing that's kicking my ass royally right now, is that its just me and George...trying to figure out what will work and what wont...

And let me just say He's not only doing the bass and the drums, but he's engineering this as well... Then, add about two other bands on his plate... The dude is amazing, and alot of the credit goes to him for his contribution... I write the songs but he adapts so well to it...There are days I feel I am not worthy LOL! We haven't even broached on his material yet (CD #2 will strike a better balance)

We've already extended past the initial project duration... Truthfully I am so stumped right now I don't know what to do...(Was supposed to be done by summer) There are many tracks that I have to consider... Lots of backing vocals, augmentations to instruments... etc... Then if we decide its worthy, there is the execution of it... We still will conduct a review for final mixing/ refinements and Mastering.

My lead tracks would fare so much better if I had a real lead guitarist with the ability to adapt and interpret ...be on the same page, etc... And we also need another drummer to fill in when George gets busy. These guys don't come around so easy...I really feel privileged and fortunate to have George partnering up like this with me...

The guy is brilliant He built a fishing pond in his back yard and goes fishing alot LOL!

I've taken some steps as well. Parted company with my drummer / electronics guyt. Wasn't working. Five months and no product. I went too long - lesson learned.

last night I played with a singer / guitar man I had played with a couple times last year. He'd been puttin' together a cover band and I played bass with them a couple times. DIdn't work out, as things often don't.

He's playing in a country band now - think Steve Earle. Good stuff. I asked him to help me put together a demo of a song. I have an idea for a project. I'll tell you guys about it after I either pull it off or fall flat on my face. Its a shot and I gotta take it.

We sounded ok last night. He gets the song - we sound good together. I'm taking my bass as well as my guitar for the next session. We had a serious discussion about what direction to take with the song. Oddly enough it could go either country / rock, or heavy metal / hard rock. Given the target we decided on metal.

Note that I was immediately willing to give this fellow a vote in the direction of my song. One cannot do that lightly. Yet the best songs of mine were always ones where I readily accepted input from trusted players.

I was reminded of a very important rule of musical collabaration: you will know right away if it is working. You CANNOT force it to work. It does or it doesn't.

BTW - a good vocal is a sort of matrix of [the best you can do], [what is required by the song], [quality of the tune]. I know you speak geak!

For my money you have provided the appropriate combination of those things and made your self a song.

After all the years we work at this the ultimate reward is when we can say what we mean, musically, in a song. You are getting that done pal.
