Cheers for the comments guys :)

Won't tell our drummer he is awesome, will go to his head haha

Can't quite see the Kix similarities meself, maybe in the vox a bit, but I checked 'em out and they're cool :)

RG - Not sure what "Red line from start to finish" means mate...not a saying I've heard of round this neck of the woods. Sounds like a compliment though... I think ;) Feel free to correct me heh heh

Totally digging the sound mate! The band is very tight and all instrument parts are well thought of! Nice main riff on the verse (Phrygian riff maybe?). I can listen to this all day! Great job guys! Cheers!

Nice mate. I like how the guitars work that melody into the verse. I didn't get the KIX reference either. Cheers!

I think you might be playing it a bit safe.

There is a hook, but I think you could have a better one. I think you could have a more interesting solo section.

Throw some caution to the wind!

It sounds good, but I think there is "better" waiting to burst forth.

oh man...that ROX just like it is.

If it were mastered right, that tune would explode out of the speakers. I'd change the name to "Taking Over" since that is the hook you keep singing.

But it's a great song and performance and recording just like it is, bro. Mazal tov!

Thanks for listening guys and all the love and feedback...warms me cockles!! :)

Jsantos - not sure if it's Phrygian, never learnt any scales as such...I know, I know...really have tried over the years but my lack of concentration prohibits haha. I started with an Alice in Chains style riff then sped up with some chugging, changed the odd note here and there ;)

gtZip - Cheers for the input. Out of curiosity, which part of the hook could be improved d'ya think? Vox? Guitars? Both? How would you change the solo section too? More notes? Different scale? - not having a whinge, genuine questions bud :) ...and to be honest, my shredding has slowed down somewhat these days. Have been going more for clearer tone and less notes...and my hand hurts more heh heh

yod - ta mate. Would love to have this mastered by a pro, reckon it would sound even better. To be honest, it's the first time I've "truly" tried to mix a tune, ie, spent some actual time, experimented, read up on the subject. 10 hrs to get here haha. Have already slightly tweaked this mix back at base. Sn and kik dropped 1db, main guitars raised 1db, 2nd guitar brought 1db behind main. Low pass filter at 75Hz on all guitars. May put this one up soon. Will be looking into mastering next!!

Sounds awesome to me, not really my genre but I can appreciate a tight ass band like that all day long. Good Riffs, Good Guitar Tones, Great Drums!

Good Luck and Keep Rockin!

When I say hook, I usually mean vocal hook. The melody and repetition, etc.

Dude, I think you should use the figure from 3:24 to 3:48 on the player for the Chorus. That is a really good part.

The vocal melody might have to be adjusted slightly, but maybe not.
It would give it a really nice contrast between verse and chorus. It could make the chorus hook "pop" so much more.

I think it would sound awesome !

Thanks JW :)

I see what you're getting at gtZip...but....I think that really would be playing it a bit safe personally ;)

I like the idea of progressing into the melody and giving the listener something to look forward to in this case as opposed to repeating the melody in this track. Tool, Lamb of God and a few other bands I like have been known to do this. Play something nice and melodic but only at one point in the whole track when you would think it could be a chorus. I quite like that myself. Don't get me wrong though, it's a good idea to use that part as a chorus, but as a band, we have other tracks that take that more traditional route, so I think we'll keep this one a little different. Cheers for the feedback :) I don't think there's a right or wrong answer to this one, just preference.
