Traveling into Canada with gear requires documentation - you've got to have an itemized ist of everything you are bringing in, bringing out, etc. Even if you are just bringing your instruments, make sure you've got bill of sales, etc.
Also, check into any tax requirements - you may need to register with the Canada version of the IRS

OMG
thought i'd add
What kind of wood is in your favorite guitar? is it documented?

Now if you could be provided with a guarantee they would not be seized , and the pay was enough to cover the costs of passports if you ain't got em. I'd think about it JW, it is pretty up that way, but heck we got plenty of trees here at home. Must be some rich bikers?

I bet I got one guitar I can't say whats in it.

N I see your from Memphis too, cool small world.

Really the more Ive thought on this deal, I dont think I want to worry about it. Would be a really cool vacation is the only positive for me at this point, dealing with crossing into Canada, making sure we get enough money out of it, its really a little out of my league, so Im just gonna pass on it.

I will stick to my local things that take up 8-10 hours of my time, and leave $150 in my pocket at the end of the night, I think thats the best thing for me to do.

I would hate to have the Canadien IRS after me, lose a guitar and wind up coming out of my pocket for a bunch of money cause I forgot about something. But its really cool that some outfit like this found us and presented us with a proposal, if I were 20 years younger i would do everything in my power to make it happen, but I know my place musically these days, just a lowly weekend warrior hack thats what i am!

I go to Canada about once a year. I've gotten in without a passport before (was much tougher getting back into the USA) and have only been hindered by border patrol once. They wanted taxes on the CDs I brought in.

Canada is a breeze. The USA has the rudest customs agents of any country you can enter, even for citizens.

It's not always a problem but when it is....

JW, I've played in B.C. a few times with different bands. there can be some problems if your not prepared. First you need a Temporary Employment Authorization for the band which costs about $450 Canadian so make sure the venue has applied and payed for this authorization before you take off. Second, make sure nobody in the band has ever been arrested for anything and I mean anything. One of our band members was refused entry at the border because of an old D.U.I.. Third, make sure you have a written agreement ahead of time with at least a travel reimbursement guarantee.

I drove by Mason (sort of) on my way to Gnashvile yesterday. Was coming across the Mississippi Bridge @ I40 and something in the road gave me a blowout (front left tire) but there was nowhere to pull over on the bridge so I kept driving on the rim for another mile to find a safe spot.

What I didn't know is that this object also put a huge gash in my fuel tank and I leaked $101 worth of fuel all the way across the bridge. Had that wheel come off, the rim would have been throwing sparks and I would be a vapor today and the Mississippi Bridge would have a big hole in it.

So after the fire department left and all the fuel was gone, I called a wrecker and got the van over to Dod's Ford, rented a car and made it to the gig in Nashvile about 30 minutes late.

But I'm going back to Memphis for the van today and don't have to be in Knoxville until Saturday morning.

You playing in a city anywhere along I40 in Tennessee tonight?
