It had a really mellow sound. I don?t know if it was just a matter of performance, but there is usually a little bit of harshness from the initial attack on the violin, that was absent it seemed with the spider strings. It was interesting, that they now have bred goats to yield spider silk in their milk for mass production. Although it may be an unique problem if the goats start grazing while hanging off the rafters. :)

That is fascinating. Thanks for sharing that.... I wonder how long they can last without becoming to flimsy or just plain breaking. I personally am a huge fan of the harshness and squeakiness of metal strings, but it's always good to have the option of mellowing things out for specific moods.
