I just heard Davy Jones of Monkees fame is dead at 66.

He took the "Last train to Clarksville".

Wow that sucks if it's true..

it is Yeah, Dying is generally viewed as sucky by most folks.

The first LP I bought was "More of the Monkees" when I was 11. Thanks Davy.

RIP Davy and thanks for all the great music. I saw the Monkee's in Philadelphia at the convention center when I was a kid. Believe it or not, my Dad was in charge of their security that night and my brother and I had the best seat in the house, on stage where they came out. How cool is that.

I cannot believe I actually watched that silly show.


Truth be known I'll take it over everything on TV these days.

Must have been a great experience. Wait a minute... Experience. By chance, would this have been one of the Monkees concerts to feature Jimi Hendrix as an opener?

The story of the Monkees is incredibly fascinating. From what I gather they weren't a real rock band at first until they started selling millions of records. Then they decided they better become a real rock band. I saw them (minus Nesmith) on TV a few years back, actually quite accomplished musicians. Davy Jones was a fine singer IMO, really captured the British pop sound, very entertaining personality. I guess when it's your time to go...The Monkees bring back a flood of happy childhood memories. I lived in the Boston Massachusetts area from 1966 to 1971, really the happiest five years of my life. When I think of Davy Jones I think of Needham Massachusetts back then. There'll never be another era like the 60's.

I guess there was a little too much monkeying around on his part... ?
