I couldn't sleep knowing that you were waiting for my opinion.
OK after listening to this on the cheap speakers 3 times I climbed out of bed and turned on the AV40's. This could make my BM greatest hits mix cd, to replace the JT mix in the car.
The Sea birds, whale song intro is pleasant. The strings organ pump chording is interesting I like it. The vocal has a calming effect the guitar solo intro needs a little less movement at the very beginning a more sustained first note. The narrative ending is interesting. I like the idea, feel, and it needs a little more engineering to bring it together. The only thing to pick on is the Lead guitars first notes.
I try to use the same reverb wash on vocals as other instruments so possibly adding reverb to the piece after all the tracks are there, sans the lead guitar. My bassist hates reverb on his bass so I rarely include it in a wash. So the initial tracks should have less reverb to start thus you can avoid a spacey sound, but it makes the vocals sound like they were recorded at same time, maybe a little bleed of the music tracks into the vocal track help achieve the all at once effect.
Something I notice in multi trackng is that it doesn't sound like it was done in the same room often. Loses the live effect, but it's not quite as noticeable here. Often folks try to make plain recordings in hopes industry types will recognize their talent. I say $crew em, put what ever blows your dress up in a recording. In a self produced world sans a little tweaking my recording is a finished project. I may have someone else mix it but, Warner Bros. Sony, ............... can join the the rest of the pimps at the bottom of the ocean.
