Now I remember that song, I found it on one of my old "King Biscuit Flower Hour" recordings. April 29, 1974. Sounded good back then and this sounds good even now.

Good job JD.
Question: Did your gut tell you not to post it before it was completely mixed?
Question: Do you plan on adding any guitar highlights to make it sound less
regimented?

I admire your choice of an obscure song to record.[/b]

Good job Jimmy, sounded just like what
I heard on utube, I could have swore
it said 1969.

Keep Rockin, get back to work and put
another one up to listen to. I think I've
watched all your videos and listened to
most all your tunes, good stuff, that and
I'm always looking to steal licks and phrases
and put them in my own music.

RG: that sounds right. I saw KC that spring, probably same tour. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

Klug: it was more like my brain ha ha. There are a lot of things to be fixed and mixed, and of course the rule of thumb is don't release until finished, but you guys deserve to see the model before airbrushing out the blemishes.

Jeff: Thanks bro! I would LOVE to open a show with it, just to blow a few hipster minds. Many of the people that enjoy The Farleys might not get it, but that's what I thrive on - going against the current. Someday I may have a band that does prog rock, it's on the back burner.

Lynard: I'll put up a few other "prog" style recordings later.

Thanks again everyone!

Jimmy it sounds awesome, I love your guitar tones.

Im gonna show my ignorance now, what time signature is that, I couldnt get a grip on counting it out, and it seems it changes. Just curious?

Tell your drummer I think hes awesome also, he didnt miss a beat that I could hear, Im gonna listen a few more times.

Cant wait for the final mix!

Keep On Rockin!

PS, you might freak the Farley Audience out with this, in my band we play a lot of our side project stuff thru the pa before we start, in fact if you remember Shredds song Burn, I have it. People love that song.

Thanks Johnny! Most of it's in 4, but Mike is a jazzy drummer so he does a lot of off-time stuff, very similar to how Bill Bruford played. The middle part is slower than the rest of the song too. The final result will be light years ahead of this but I just wanted to share, I'm glad you like it.

Speaking of odd time signatures, we also do Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill" which is in 7. Very easy to mess up lol!

It just has that wierd feel to me, we do a couple of things in 3/4 and a couple of things in 7/8, I auditioned for this prog outfit that was doing stuff in 13/4, that was weird one.

I need to brush up on time signatures, Im gonna put that on my ta doo list.

13/4 how would you count that, just like 6/8,
but with a extra beat in 2 measures?

Never seen no 13/4

With oddball time signatures I'd have to have a
click track, or lyrics. I find it easier to follow the
lyrics on odd meter, than to try and count it, no
words gotta have a click track.

Will a click track count 13/4?

Loved it !
