I just put up an old old song. (second version recorded @ 1975).
I thank all you guys for sharing your music. Some of it is really great!
I am not afraid to share either. These garage band buddies of mine are really becoming a fun bunch to jamm with.
This was from last friday. This was the first and only time we played this and you can hear the FUN we have even when we are just jamming.
Don't make to much fun of it,,, cause these guys never heard this song before.
Having fun? Damn right I am. You should hear some of the tunes we have played more than once.

Where you been Glen we've missed your
regular verbal (written) onslaughts. That's
a joke your a worthy musician to exchange
ideas with as are all on the BM forum.

Glen I love your voice kinda Joe Cockerish,
Levon Helmesque, melodic lead solo, cool,
needs more lead fills, answer response to the
vocals, let your guitar talk to you.

Calling out the chords, I totally understand,
but have players become offended by me doing
that. ( Then they oughta be able to follow by watching
my hand). I think they thought it reflected on their
playing skills.

I likd the 2nd version with the increased bpm better,
seemed like it needed a little backbeat on the verses,
you know a little up/down stroke on the unaccented
beat. It's your song, and you got to go with what you
here.

I loved the song had a southern rock feel to, as the
last song I'd heard from you. Truthfully I think you
accomplished one of the hardest things for a musician,
you wrote a good song. Good songs is all that separates
us from the masters.

I like the 2nd version of the tune the best.

And yeah, what he said.. Joe Cocker.

You know what that means, right? On a good night of drinking, you are spurring us all on and we drink while you play.

I've been thinking about your project. I'm growing a drummer. No pro experience but some talent and good attitude. I get impatient some times but it may just come together.

What experience level are your boys at? Garage band sounds about where we are.

My drummer also has good discipline and electronics expertise which is no small thing. The lack of actual pro experience is a problem them - playing live is like going into combat as opposed to training for it.

Wish you were here - I could put you to work and switch back to bass!

These guys HAVE BEEN major FRIENDS, since High school. They thought I was good. I thought they ssuuuckeed!! BUT!!! They have been jamming together for 20 years. They don't realize how good they are, and they are running into the same wall so many good musicians run into. AINT YO MAMAS BAND , JW, is probably so amazing that it would knock your socks off. They have been FRIENDS for years!!!

I'm starting to feel like I stepped into it, because these guys are having a whole bunch of fun and getting better every time we "JAM"

I liked both versions.
Original has that 70's R&B groove about it... very cool sound.
The garage band version sounds like your onto something cool in it's own right.
I enjoyed it.

Glen if you are getting to play music on a regular basis with people that you are friends with it doesnt get any better than that.

Thanks for the props on my band I do think we are better than average, not necessarily cause we are so talented, but we have stood the test of time. And I can tell you from experience playing with people that you are close too, is way funner than being a hired gun.

Compared to other projects Ive been in thru the years, we have no drama about songs, what we are doing, it just works.


In fact our singer came by my house the other day, he and our bassist were in a very good original band a few years ago, awesome group, called Chemical Zoo, if you can find them listen to the song Can You Hear Me Now. Anyway other members wanted to have a reunion show, I said well thats up to you, I support you guys in that all the way. He said but John we put everything we had and close to 4 years into getting a record deal, that was the goal, he said I dont really care to have reunions, we will have to practice a bunch and for what, One Show?????

He went on to say, thats why I still love to play in Aint Yo Mama, there is absolutely no pressure, we may not even see each other for 3-4 monthes, then we book a show, and just do it. Weve got a dedicated following, we have fun, there arent any issues, we play our show, collect our money and go home til the next time. Its just the ultimate low maintenance gig. He said and you seem to be able to whip out any song that weve played together over the past 25 years, even when we havnet mentioned playing it, it just happens, and even when we screw up on a song like that its still an adventure.

He really made me feel good when he said all of that.

So Glen just enjoy the ride your on is all I can say, I know the music is impotant, but playing with good friends is just icing on the cake.

So true John. Last night we rehearsed with a friend of ours who's filling in on bass for this Friday's show. We haven't jammed with him in 15 years, but he came right in and learned the tunes and we had a great time because we are friends! Who needs all the drama, leave it in your pajama.
