General Music Chat

I'm a singing wuss. I can't sing while I play guitar unless I selectively jump in as a back up vocal. My comfort zone is a song like Bing Crosby's I'll be home for Christmas. I've dared challenges such as My Maria and haven't done bad with it- others listen. I just don't know how to join the two parts of my brain to do what comes so naturally to others.

And that is why I think you should pursue your passion (music) using the unique gift you have for comedy.



I mean, how many TV shows do people watch just waiting for a laugh? These days, none of them are delivering laughs but people keep watching. If you could find a way to combine both of those talents you have uniquely been given, it could be huge and you'd be getting television offers to go play your music before long.

You could do some kind of "angry white guy" act, or something less confrontational...but remember that no one buys what they "like", they buy what they "love". You'd do better to polarize everyone into either hating you or loving you...spit the lukewarm out because they don't buy anything.

When my business was big and I was rolling, I
called this living in the shine.

Now I realize I'm not in control (and I don't need
to be), but if I live each day the way the Lord wants
me to, and make all the moves he creates for me,
that success will come from all corners. Since I've
started living this way it is unbelievable the good
things that have happened to me, that have come
out of bad. So I'm following the plan he is laying out
for me now, I got a feeling he'll lead me to great things.


I'm working the new solo act up now, it'll be beautiful
music, spirituality and comedy.

Yeah, and there is a special kind of satisfaction in knowing you've given people something that helps them, instead of just entertaining them for an hour. You could be a "preacher" of sorts to the secular world and show them the way to hope, while making them smile the whole time.

If it's a clean act, there are churches on every corner that would have you come, too. Venues are EVERYWHERE.

So find a way to bless every person you can, and it will be a huge crop that grows. I can hardly wait to see what you come up with...
