How do I register a band name even though we havent played out yet?

Ive been playing in bands since I was 12 and have yet to register one. Thats 37 years, LOL!
If you are talking about something like a trademark or copywright you get paperwork thru the library of congress. Most people find when they do this that thier pet name has already been filed on.

International band name registry (Band name.com). If you have a cool name I'd register it on the web. Dirt cheap to do.
