Paper at the level I play at the issue is economics as far as a sound guy is concerned. They get a cut, me and my guys have gotten greedy and dont want to cut someone else in.

Get 1000 gigs or so under your belt in club situations and you will learn the dynamics of rooms and proper level setting, it aint rocket science.

A good sound guy can make you sound better to your audience, a bad one can do you harm with the audience.

I know I'm just a dumb old musician, but I would kind of listen to all the things JW is sharing. JMFUNSHO

Once this past week I heard a Nazareth tune I hadn't heard before. Classic Nazareth sound , but I don't know if it was new and I only head it once while working so I can't tell you what the song was. Maybe I'll Google it.

Only reason I keep Bringing up Nazareth is that they have been around long enough for me to have heard them on enough different stereos to have bits and pieces of what I hear of their words make sense. To me they are the most mushmouthed band I've ever heard, even though they sound great. When you make sense of the words it ties the songs together very well. I just wish they could be just a bit clearer on some of their words. What, are they Austrailian?

No, they are British. I've seen them more than any other band in concert (6 times) mainly because they were opening for bands I wanted to see.

I don't relate to your point though. I understand them quite clearly. The Clash is a band that I can't understand well. Probably couldn't understand that cockney accent if they were talking in front of me though.

We use to play Hair of the Dog but dropped it,
cause I couldn't play Daytripper by the Beatles
if I practised Hair of the Dog, the band liked
the Daytripper riff better. The Hair of the Dog riff,
is almost the same with a couple of rests in it.

Lynard, those song would make a great medley then if you can remember the changes in the heat of things.

Over the years weve worked up a few medleys like that, and they have kinda turned into signature songs for us, We always finish with The Funk, which is Play That Funky Music, Superstition, Thank U Fo Letten Me B My self, and then We want the Funk. Of course if they want more we always do Living After Midnite as an encore, LOL! Fun Stuff

I really haven't been to as many concerts as others, but one Idid see in 1986 was Nazareth and Billy Squire. When Nazareth opened I was shocked to see the lead playing a Washburn exactly like mine. It is the only other one like mine that I've seen. You may be able to understand them better than i because you may be more familiar to their phrases. Some of which I found were common phrases, yet I hadn't heard. Once I had heard them, then I understood more of what he was singing.

I swear I can't play Hair of the Dog and Daytripper
on the same night, the riffs are so similar. We do
Surrender and then go into I'm Not In Love, cause both
start with B/A chord, and we use to do Stairway and go into
Sympathy for the Devil. We use to do a drug set,
Needle and the Spoon, Cocaine, Sweet Leaf, and Casey Jones.
I'm to artistic I can't play Hair and Daytripper on the same
night or even weekend, wait maybe I mean autistic, yeah,
I'll get it right.

There is nothing on that album I don't like. A mainstay when I don't know what music to listen to like Alice in Chains, or Montrose

I've loved BOC, hard to believe Nazareth
opened for those other bands. It must be
tough at the top.

I loved that guitar solo at the end of Changing Times,
think I'll go over to utube and see if its there.
