My place is shrouded in a cloud of smoke, surrounded by small medium and large forest and grass fires.

Hope we're still here to practice on Tuesday

I thought this was going to be a post about venues that allow smoking or not. I guess any gig you have in the near term will be a smoking venue...

The wind has laid down.
My son went to get my M.I.L. whom reportedly was told to evacuate.
She refused to leave. My son was instructed to come on home, and has not returned as yet.

I'm not worried as he is young, strong, and intelligent.

But I am going to chew his ass for failure to follow instructions when next I see him.,

Really ?

Not heard of it on the news.

Yes ... troubling ...

Son got M.I.L. out safe finally.

He appears to be hard headed ... must have inherited that from his mother.

George,

I have been hearing sirens around here all day! Our young adults (males) have told me they could see smoke all day. You see we live in a 2 story house and in these parts it is VERY FLATLAND. I have wanted to start a thread called can Texas BUY A DROP OF RAIN!

Thanks Talbot.

Woke up this morn a little after three. The smoke was so thick in my you could see it in the air though we've been smelling it fr days.

Something told me to do a drive about to check the parameter of our home.

I then drove over to my MIL's place. There was fire again at an oil tank battery within 100m of her house.

I called my wife whom notified the fire department and I fought it myself till about 0445.
Then went to work in Tyler.

As I traveled down Tx 31 there was a section that looked as if 1000 camp fires were burning on both sides of the road for as far as I could see.

Th smoke was so thick at the hospital that my eyes burned from it most of day.

Good news is the wind is still calm and most of the fires are contained.

Sans , I truly hope you guys stay safe.

Back in early 200o's in San Diego,CA., I spent two days and three nights , 7-11 hopping and sleeping in parking lots (in my Camry) ,after they evacuated my neighborhood from a massive Fire. The city smelled and tasted like a war zone, with acrid smoke everywhere. At times breathing was uncomfortable as well. I lived about 12 miles from the beach, and went down there ..It was snowing ash, I could stare straight into a reddened sun and see the sun spots on its face. Needless to say that was a wild experience. When they let us back into the neighborhood, some of the fires were stopped short of one parking lot away from my apartment unit... Talk about a close call.!

My ex brother in law lost his house last night in the Magnolia fire. These fires are starting to hit a lot of people here in Texas.
