I wanted to post a clip of some of the highlights from the gig my new band done at a private party saturday night and was a little bothered with the terms and conditions about posting . We are doing mostly cover tunes at the moment while we put our original stuff in order. I see a lot of people posting cover tunes on you tube ,but is there any problems with doing this ? I'm one click away from posting , so I will wait a few hours and let you guys help me here . Thanks !

I don't know brother but tons of people do. Apparently youtube will ultimately pull your vid if you violate some rule that anybody really cares about.

I don't know why I'm worried . Hell we might convince somebody to buy somebodys music or something. I put this band together in the last couple of months and we still need a lot of work with our sound and stuff . But were having a lot of fun and hope to get some gigs going and this might help . I'll be back withthe link .

If you aren't extracting fees from the video of other peoples work, (copyright permisssions yadda yaday yada...) then there should not be any problem. Also I'm not sure but if the covers are recent works that are still in Charts mode, that might have a bearing...I merely speculate ...but it seems that money and loss of revenue usually underlie these rules

Here you go. I got this video on my zoom Q-3 HD recorder last saturday. What you hear is exactly what we done no effects or changes made to any of the audio. I am certainly not a sound man and have no experience at all trying to run the sound. Sorry. You can count the times practicing as a band on both hands. I think with a little work we will have a great band.

I post stuff on Youtube and the only thing that has happened to me is a mob of angry people stormed my castle with torches and pitch forks and destroyed my monster.

Legally you need a performance license to perform a cover song in public, and a mechanical license to record a cover. This license pays the royalties due the songwriter/publisher. You must pay these licenses whether or not you perform for free or are paid, or whether or not you give away the recording or sell it. Of course most people do not do this, and most of the content on YouTube is not legal. King Crimson regularly has videos that contain their music taken down.

I'm digging the video #1 the vocals and bass could be a bit louder but I think that may be due to the placement of the recorder mic. Your singer reminds me a LOT of Crissie Hinds (The Pretenders). It looks like you guys are off to a GREAT start good luck to you! :D
