I hit the open mic blues jam in Charles Town tonight. They had me play twice. Got to play with ppl I haven't jammed with in a long time. IT was fun...but it was like it wasn't ME playing, but someone else...while I was just watching. I just felt kinda disconnected.

Weird, huh?

I wonder if it's the Chantix...or if it's my attitude...or if I've just lost it...

Evrybody gets an off day... Jam session environs are usually pretty forgiving of it...

There are a few decent open mics and jam venues. Steamers Jazz Club in Fullerton is a good example of good jazz jam sessions on Sundays.

I concur!

Good stuff, bro! I can definitely hear Darrel Abbott in there.

He was a friend of mine. I produced a few of their (lame) videos when they were still a glam band with Terry Lee singing. Their dad, Jerry, produced a few songs for my band in the late 80s.

The quality of this video sucks. I promised them I would never release the originals and somebody else uploaded this from a VHS copy, evidently.

I just watched this... The song is definitely good production quality (for its genre and time) , so what I'm thinking is ..why not salvage the soundtrack as is, do another video where this video plays inside a TV prop in somebody's living room...Then just embellish the themes as needed with new HD vid quality.

Just a thought. LOL!

(That's my deer in the headlights look)

I Just Looked him up... What a tragedy. That happened on the same day as my moms birthday, and also the same date (Dec 8 ) that Lennon was shot.

Having absolutely nothing to do with the metal scene, I never knew of this until now...

Needless to say, what a sad way to go.

Pantera was perhaps THE biggest band of the 90s, though they didn't get as much radio because they were too heavy for most stations. They were the first american band to play Russia when the iron curtain fell...to a million people. They regularly drew hundreds of thousands in nations all over the world.

Darrell was probably the best rock guitarist in Texas by age 15, bar none. That lame video was done on cable access gear so I promised them I wouldnt bootleg it when they got huge. I sure don't want to exploit his death for profit. Someone else put that up, along with a few others I worked on.

I chronicled the Dallas music scene in the 80s with a show called dallas music magazine that ran for 9+ years

Wow.. I Must have been in a coma to have missed that. I will Say the 90s kept me pretty busy...was not focused a lot on entertainment scene...

That's impressive how you came about the video. Perhaps some day, you could organize a remake and funnel the proceeds to a viable charity?

Wow thank you for the compliment. You are right, DDarrel was an idol of mine. He continues to inspire me and still sad about his death. Such a terrible way for a life to end. Be good to each other my friends!
