JH - WHEN did I say add a tax? I said redistribuite the current monies that gov't gets. Less waste, more SUBSTANCE. more bang for our bucks, is the answer - & the only way to do that is to get the corp world out of our gov't. & to control the lobbyists.

The job of the lobbyist is to EDUCATE the gov't officials about issues, but in our current system, it seems they are far more apt to hornswaggle, threaten, & bribe than to educate.

We need some entity that can separate the wheat from the chaff in the messages from our lobbyists.

Special interests include FAR more than "liberal" issues, JH. And many of those "liberal" issues are things that every American SHOULD concern themselves with.

But, never you mind - just keep harping on the pres's place of birth, & his name, & the "liberal agabda," & concentrate on that nasty word "Socialism!" THAT's gonna solve it all for us all, man. We need to put our tax dollars to better use, Glen. Cut back on the huge waste in corp-run activities that the GOV'T should be running for less than 1/2 the cost - for example. in our prison system, our war efforts, & the like. 1.000 gov't-sponsored abortions a year & NPR & the gov't-sponsored "piss-christ" statues, combined, ain't a drop in the bucket, when you compare it with those wasted dollars. It's easy to see the corruption in the system when you take the time to look at it, unemotionally. Follow where the money goes. See where it comes from. You're constantly barking, but it's the wrong frikken tree, man.

As long as we allow the corp's to do the job of our gov't, with gov't monies. we're gonna be paying a premium for lackluster performance, deregulated price gouging, etc...not to mention the need for higher taxes to cover the outrageous costs.

Exxon/mobil just reported record profits for this 1/4. 89 billion Right.
However the media is not reporting anything about the 39 billion in taxes they will pay on this profit. This also doesn't include all the taxes, that all the employees kick into the system.

Lets step back a minute and understand were this profit is coming from.
From oil prices that have been manipulated by the value of the US dollar. By an energy policy that has REDUCED American energy independence by at least 15% OUR OWN GOVERNMENT is making us energy dependent on Libya,and all the likes. Add to that margin rules are way to lax and you have the recipe for back breaking energy costs.

Remember this, every time you pay $4.00 for gas, you are NOT paying EXXON/MOBIL to profit, You are paying taxes to every little stupid socialist program you can think of. Including sen REID [d,Arizona] fighting to support endowment to cowboy poetry. You are paying billions to Pakistan to be a friend,while they hide our most reviled mass murderer.

Pull the plug on all this crap. Pull the plug on giving billions of aid to countries that hate us. Yes, pull the plug on big business and every union and every lobbyist, and any one else that wants to contribute more than $10 to further their own political agenda.

Actually Phil every time the government gets involved "in running things",,, costs skyrocket. After 40 + years of running AMTRACK it is still a socialized program of transportation, the same as the Metropolitan Transit Authority here in NY. OOOH pretty scary, because right away that word Authority gets thrown in your face. As far as prisons, Time and Time again private prisons become the answer because they don't cost the taxpayer as much as GOVERNMENT run prisons.
As far as abortions, I choose not to take other peoples choices away from them, That is a God given privilege that was decided by Adam. However when the government steps in and takes my money to enforce some one else's choice, that is when they have taken away the very tenet of this point, my right to choose.
As far as NPR. Government controlled programing through coercion and support from tax dollars is just the very beginning of a very slippery slope to socialism. NPR should NEVER have been funded with taxpayer dollars, PERIOD. When you don't have to answer to anyone, usually they won't.
