I agree with that.
The music industry is profit driven. Art is created and exist regardless of profit. Can't confuse the 2. If you create art then that's what you do. I would assume for yourself and if others find they enjoy it... all the better.
The agenda of an industry (if wish to be part of) is under their rules. They write the checks.
I listened to lightless and illumnia your mixes need some work to my ears. Why do you have the drums so low in the mix? Some cool guitar work.
Your music sounds tribal-like to me but it lacks bottom. Give me some drums!!!! But that's just me playing by the industry rules.

This is true but who controls the industry might change if the people eventually develop the ability to discern more carefully the types of things they allow themselves to be influenced by. It might be that many people are simply willing to listen to whatever the mainstream media throws at them.

As far as sound quality on my album I concede that it is not my main focus as an artist. Crystalline Dawn was all recorded by me personally on a very small budget. Oh and the drums are somewhat weak because I also play all the instruments and do the vocals on the album but can't play drums so I was forced to use a drum machine.

ThE masses are asses! Hamilton, or old Yiddish still holds true. The world is full of sheep including buyers of music and entertainment.
But I believe there will eventually be another surge in music like the grunge of the late eighties early ninties. Hopefully somewhere it's cooking.
