here is something that i have been thinking for a while and i would love to here comments.would an album(cd) like whitesnakes 1987 album sell alot if it never came out in the 80`s but came out now?is it the music for the times or is it that good song writnig prevails no mater what?how about not releasing sgt pepper until`73.is it that good songwriting just cant be denied?no mater what?`cos when it comes down to it it`s all about the song writing.of course bands like dream theater can get away without writing good songs because with them it`s the musicianship which is exceptional.kind of like cream was in the 60`s.of course when you have both good song writing and musicianship that is truly excetional.

I sorta think I know where your coming from with this but I can't be sure unless I really know.
You guys have some great musical tracks, Love the drummer and vocals. Well mixed for the genre you are playing.
I think you are questioning the strength of the songs. One question you have to ask is,, are the songs strong enough for the genre you guys are playing in?
I'm not saying any of them are bad songs at all, but that style of music is so tough that the song itself has to be OVER THE TOP to begin with.

You guys are fantastic and I hope you figure it out. GJ.

There is good music and there is great music, i would classify the Whitesnake album as good maybe really good. But I think it would struggle a bit in todays market.
If Abbey Road came out today,I think it would do just fine. imo
Seems that great songs never die they just get covered again and again... In 1965 the Beatles released HELP! the song "Yesterday" is the most recorded song of all time (over 1600 versions).
So I guess it doesn't seem to matter when it was released IF (and that's a mighty big if) the song is great. Seems that kids today are realizing how good the music from the 60's, 70's and even 80's was...is. There is still hope for this younger generation.

Good music lasts forever, however the times during which the music was created and performed have a huge impact on the music itself. So the music can still be great 20, 40 or even 200 years later, but it will still sound dated, because it was from that time. Get your music out as soon as possible!

Here in southwest Missouri we don't have any radio stations that play new music(except for new country which sounds like old rock n roll) so I don't know how you would get a new song out today. It's all classic rock or classic country, or 80's or 90's rock. There seems to be no format to display the new current songs, besides the computer or TV, and I don't listen to either of those in my truck. So I'll just put another CD in the deck and listen to some more old songs.

I'm sure a lot of great bands would still be given some recognition, but not at they level they deserve in today's market.

I believe writing, unique vocals, exceptional guitar work, exciting drum-bass combinations then inventive marketing and manager would be the proper or most recognizable order of importance in the top 100 songs. Not to Dis. keys and other instruments but in general.
