We played sat at one of our ussualy strong holds.

The last time we played there they just paid us a flat $400.

I told them then that we had raised our price to $600 a night, they wouldnt bite. But I went thru there a couple of monthes ago and they said they had changed thier pay scale.

They give any band that plays a flat $150 for setting up, then the door minus $40 for thier doorman.

At the end of the night we got the base $150, plus we drew 122 people at $5 a head, for $610 at the door, minus the $40 door man charge and we got $570 off the door and $150 from the bar for a total of $720.

I know its hard even for good cover bands to make much more than 3-400 dollars these days so I thought I would share this with others on here. It might be a bargaining tool if you can draw enough people. I was actually a little dissapointed cause we put 202 people in there and also 141 another time, I guess there were too many entertainment options this past weekend. On another note about 80% of the people showed up from invites on FB. I know some people dismiss the internet side of marketing but its a great tool to drive folks to your gigs, plus its free and only took me about 30 minutes to send out 200 invites.

Awesome John! That's not a bad deal. A local original band wouldn't have a chance of making that much unless they could draw 150 people. And the soundman was reasonable too, $75 is the average here. Rock on!

Me, damn I look like Im concentrating too hard LOL, if I dont knwo these songs by now I should quit! Must have been Gimme Three Steps! LOL

This is Ron Thies who took my place for around 8 years, they went on to form a band called Chemical Zoo that won some online rewards for a coupld of thier original songs.

Ron came out so I let him play a few songs. Its really cool to sit in the crowd and hear how good your amp and guitar sound with another guy on them that knows how to use them.

And of course one with Angie, we were cutting up between sets as usual!

Sometimes she and I dance and entertain people more than the band does, and it keeps all the guys hanging around to hit on her while Im playing, LOL!

That's a cool idea. I miss being in a town where people actually go out instead of wanking off in front of the computer. The problem with Southern Cal, there are so many options that it's hard getting people in one spot without good cause.

C our band has been around for close to 25 years now, so we have kind of a following that still likes to see us. Over the years it just came down to playing what they wanted to hear, not necessarily what we wanted to play. Hell we may play Wild Thing or Wooley Bully just to make folks happy, but I will say that we do put our personal stamp on anything we do and it comes out hard rock. We rock a lot harder than most club bands in our area, but we have fun.

I cant help you on getting people off thier asses, in fact from my standpoint if you cant motivate people to come out and support you in the first place at a grass roots level then I dont know how you get a band off the ground these days. Im just blessed that this band doesnt have any of the typical band drama that seems to surround so many. The four of us like each other and love to play together. Oddly we dont play that much, our last real gig was in Nov last year, we rehearsed one time a couple of weeks ago, and hell we didnt play anythign we rehearsed its kinda like a snow ball going down a hill for me, just hold on and hope you dont hit a tree.
