Furthermore, why isn't he helping you look for said good bass player? Sounds like he's slacking. Maybe you ought to find a new drummer to go with that new good bass player. I would be annoyed. You should be together with some guys that are motivated and enthused. That's what I think. I can't stand when people don't answer my e-mails or call me back. I can understand a little, but all the time?

Pffft, that guy said he knew a good bassist and that he would talk to him...never heard any more about it. I asked him what was going on, and he said that he hasn't been doing much of anything at all lately. Right before we hung up he says "well Brian, just keep looking for that bass player and let me know". WTF? Like I hired his ass or something? You know what? f**k that guy! I haven't even heard him play yet!!! The only thing I've heard him do is brag about his drumset.

I'm not exaggerating either...this guy never returns calls or emails. The only time he ever called me was when he first responded to my ad. Strange thing is, this guy doesen't get that he's really wrong about how he's going about things. At first, I let it go because I figured it would be cool to have the room to run the band. Why not? But now I'm starting to think that he might eventually try to be a shot caller more than just a member who plays to all my songs.

I'll bet you $$$ that if I don't call him, I'll never hear from him again.

I have to agree, C'ya! Go find some people who actually want to do something. Then once you get it going, you can invite him down to one of your gigs. Ha ha!

After 3 decades I recently saw a vid on youtube of John McGlaughlin and Billy Cobham tearing it up at the Montreux Jazz Fest, just the two of them. Two guys, any instruments, can jam.

I must agree. Your drummer does not seem very motivated. Actually, it seems very odd you would even consider him your drummer when you haven't even heard him yet and you have had little verbal communication together.

If he isn't willing to get together, keep looking.

Actually he's not your drummer until you've bailed him out of jail (or got his kit out of hock at the local pawn shop).

He sounds like those typical a-holes who are sitting around and waiting for their phone to ring thinking they're gonna wind up on somebody's tour. Sorry, but that's not how it's gonna happen. That happens to most of the musicians who are out there busting their ass working on a bunch of different projects and getting their name out there.
