The Whermact and the Waffen SS were certainly efficient - they were probably the best soldiers since Napoleon's Old Guard. The "civilian" leaders were with some exceptions (Speer et al) bloody bozos. Koch, in Prussia, may have cost the lives of up to a million of his own people through his stupidity and cupidity. (from another history buff)

The Nazi racial policies probably cost them the war - one of many reasons why they lost.

The Nazis and their demonic cousins in Soviet Russia proved once and for all that it is ridiculous to use slave labor. When you treat people that badly, give them no hope and no incentives - the ONLY thing they think about is hurting you in any way they can. That is certainly not sensible nor efficient.

The thing about racism that no one ever mentions is pretty scary - no matter who it is you hate - what if they actually ARE inferior? The real question is so what - should you kill them based on that? There are plenty of people who are superior to me in many ways - does that give them the right or duty to kill me?

The nazis are particularly reviled because they killed based on their racial nonsense. The Russians / Soviets killed three or four times as many but did not discrimate - although they periodically purged Jews just because it was sort of Russian tradition. (cosscks / pograms etc)

The Soviet Communists and the German Nazis set some new standards for atrocity by govt, raising the bar. Now everybody else is wanting to live up to that.

Talbot, Sorry man, your wasting your ink. Too many people across the world refuse to believe how evil a few can be until the last second of life and the insensitivity of the dead.
