COuld you imagine back in 1931 being able to go to your local cinema any given day of the week and seeing the likes of the Marx Brothers, Laurel & Hardy, W.C. Fields, etc.? I would have been in heaven despite the Great Depression...

Sorry, just saw this.

There was a story about a famous harpist who was so taken with Harpo Marx that he asked to have an instruction with him. He was flabbergasted with his style because the way he played was so unorthodoxed. Hearing that story inspired me to read the biography of the Marx Brothers. All of the brothers were self taught in music - Groucho - the violin, Chico - the piano and Harpo the harp. Back during the days of vaudeville, almost all musicians and performers were self taught because most of them came from poor backgrounds and competition was fierce to make a name for yourself.

Most of the Marx Brothers movies were all filmed without a script, all of the comedic interaction between the brothers were pieces of their previous vaudeville performances or just flat out thought out on the fly.

Of course this work is genius! I'll have to share this Phil!

I was expecting to see Victor Borge. My Dad was a big fan of the Marx brothers...I wonder if he really knew how talented they were...He probably did.[/i]

Well he certainly didn’t look 70 years old. I was disappointed he didn’t play the harp in the video, but playing clarinet was a surprise. :)
