So there's a Dream Theater tribute band forming here on bandmix. They need a guitarist, bassist and singer...

Something about that just kindof struck me funny.

Wow! That's a tall order. DT is one of the most technical math-rock band out there.

Dumb. How can it be a tribute if the band is still alive and working? I mean Elvis or Hendrix, sure. Green Day or Dream Theater? No.

Maybe not so dumb. Judas Priest plucked their replacement singer from a tribute band when Halford left for a while. (then gave him the heave ho when Halford returned)

Does strike me a little weird - wanting to be someone else. But lots of folks like to do that so it must be me.

Whatever blows their skirt up I guess.
Not my thing.

Kind of like saying

New band forming, need two guitar players, a bassist, a drummer, a singer and some equipment.
Aint it?

Why don't you write your own tunes and perform them...then you could say you are your own tribute band...

Done that.
Do it again and then you could say we are a dejavu tribute band living vicariously through our own music OR perhaps you could say that you have been reincarnated as yourself...
